Family-friendly holiday rentals in Houghton Lake

Even with cold, rainy weather, we still had the best weekend staying here! The cabin is so cozy with everything we needed, we felt right at home. Being right in the water was fantastic, especially enjoying the view from the hot tub on the colder days. If you're in the area I would highly recommend staying here!

Extremely unique layout and design of house. The house easily accommodated our whole party and the deck, hot tub, River, and kitchens were wonderful. The house is fully stocked with all amenities that other AirBnBs often lack like towels, toiletries, kitchen appliances/basic spice/condiments. The property is densely forested and feels very secluded. Great stay.

This house is a great place to stay. We will be back for sure. We have friends and family that live near by. Fenced yard was perfect for our fur baby. This place was super clean. Updated. The angler's retreat was just what we were looking for. Private, secluded and very peaceful. Jeff & MJ provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. All we needed to bring was food and clothes. There was even fresh cookies for us to enjoy. Will definitely be visiting again!

We came up for a family snowmobile trip it was a great time Easy access to the trails just an overall great time.

Great little cottage. Loved the location and the proximity to town. Everything we needed. Will definitely return hopefully when it isn’t cold and rainy so I can enjoy the beautiful screened porch and nice yard/firepit.

We recently had the pleasure of staying in this charming, rustic cabin that was the perfect blend of comfort and tranquility. Nestled in a serene, wooded setting, the cabin felt like a true retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cabins interior was warm and inviting and the soft lighting and cozy furnishings made it an ideal place to relax, especially after a day spent outdoors. The stove was a highlight and many baked items were made. Helpful signage and detailed instructions made check in a breeze. Will recommend to friends / family.

Great place on a snowy cold weekend. Enjoyed the fenced in backyard for the pups and our ten year old, the potbelly stove to warm up, fully stocked kitchen, games, books, internet. Was perfect.

Dorothea and her husband Glenn were fantastic hosts. They seemed just as excited as us to be there. Dorothea was very kind and outgoing, and very accommodating. Even checked in on us mid-way to make sure everything was to our liking. The location was just a few blocks away from Higgins lake, and house had a very neat theme and was immaculate. Our favorite part of the trip was seeing a family of deer every day and night! Thanks again. I would highly recommend!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Eric’s place! It was a mild weekend for Michigan winter, and we enjoyed cross country skiing at the nearby XC Headquarters and a delicious dinner at the Cut River Grille. The living room was comfy for a game night with our travel companions. Eric was easy to contact and the place was a perfect cozy cottage for our weekend! The little touches for hospitality, like having the driveway plowed/salted, coffee filters, extra new toothbrushes, and extra blankets were greatly appreciated. Looking forward to our next trip up north!

Great stay. We were there in winter and it met all of our needs. Nice to have the extra room with multiple beds. The place is not huge but living spaces were larger than living spaces we've stayed that cost more. Convenient to cross country skiing locations and lakes. Helpful hosts.

Pretty stop for a couple wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle while still exploring the area.

This roomy, comfortable lakefront home provided a wonderful summer gathering spot for our eleven-member family. Sleeping bunks were ideal for out five grandsons as were the multiple bathrooms. The shallow walk out lake, paddle boat and kayaks kept them busy all day and the ample grassy area was perfect for lawn games. The large kitchen was well stocked and made meal preparation easy. The home was clean, well-organized and well stocked with anything we needed. Matt was a pleasure to work with from our first inquiries to our departure and beyond. Always providing a quick response to questions and detailed information about the home.

We had a great time at this property. The provided kayaks were awesome. House was huge with plenty of room for us to relax.
