Orchard Barn, Imperfectly Perfect!

SteveRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Zoe was so helpful from the first contact, whuch was months before arrival at her beautiful Barn. It was obvious that both she and Chris, genuinely cared about ensuring that their guest were presented with top quality fittings and decor, in a beautifully converted former farm building. Zoe provided us with all the information we needed and insisted we contacted at anytime, should there be anything we needed. The Welcome pack was amazing and the the extra attention to my wifes birthday was so much appreciated. In short, I would recommend Zoes property to anyone and feel confident, that they would have as pleasurable time as we did. Thank you Zoe and Chris xx

Dog friendly pod with Scandinavian hot tub

RichardRating, 5 stars8 months ago
A very well equipped place to stay, about a 20 minute walk from the quayside in Hugh Town. We especially appreciated the extras that Christie thoughtfully included, such as beach towels, bath robes, and slippers together with the welcome pack. Christie was an excellent host, and communicated very well with us throughout the booking process. Overall, a great place to stay.

Centrally located barn conversion on St Mary's

ForbesRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a fantastic week at The Hayloft in Parting Carn. Easy walk down from the airport or up from the ferry. Also short walk from both Hugh Town & Old Town. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, furnished to a high standard & everything worked perfectly. Bed was extremely comfortable and we slept soundly. The information from Christie before arrival was excellent & the welcome pack at the accommodation was lovely. The stairs up to the Hayloft have been refurbished and are perfectly safe and easy to use. We would definitely recommend this property and intend to return.

We really enjoyed our week. The accommodation is in a great location, easy to find and everything just a short walk away. Liz is a great host - kept in touch and made sure we had everything we needed. 2 en-suites rooms was great as 2 couples staying, and we had everything we needed - thoroughly recommended.

Backpackers Cabin

LynnRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Backpackers cabin is the perfect place for the single traveler to explore these beautiful islands. Comfortable and well equipped, I had everything I needed. Made very welcome by Richard and Jenny- met from quay and taken back at the end of my stay - this was very helpful. They were prompt in responding to questions. It was easy to arrange boat trips to other islands, nature and boat excursions. So many bees and birds! Visited vineyard, the island observatory and historical sites. Recycling/respect for resources are part of island life. Wayside stalls with local produce and crafts, a few lovely cafes, and many walking tracks with views of the turquoise sea and pristine beaches. Every island has a different character - all interesting and accessible with various grades of walks in wild surroundings. Little Arthur Cafe is close but not a disturbance. The food is delicious and sourced from Little Arthur farm as far as possible. I had a wonderful time, I hope I can stay again. ☺️

Delightful one bedroom Shepherds Hut with decking

LisaRating, 5 stars7 months ago
We had a lovely week in the Shepard’s hut. It was great for the dog, who loved the beach once all the day visitors had gone. The hut was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Terry was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely stay again, flights accommodating.

Your guide to Isles of Scilly

Welcome to Isles of Scilly

Few parts of the British landscape have much in common with the tropics, but the Scilly Isles might come closest. Lying 28 miles from the southernmost point of the mainland in the Atlantic and warmed by the Gulf Stream, this 140-island archipelago boasts turquoise waters and beautiful white-sand beaches lined with palm trees, as well as the famous Tresco Abbey Garden, bursting with subtropical plants.

Only five of the islands are inhabited. Most of the 2,000 residents live on the chief island of St Mary’s, engaged in fishing, farming, and tourism. It’s a close but welcoming community that will make you feel like you’ve travelled to a quieter, more rural past. The remainder of the islands are a haven of natural wilderness, including bird and sealife, unspoilt coastline, red squirrels, grey seals, and much more in a richly varied habitat of grassland, wetland, woods, and dunes.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Isles of Scilly

With one of the mildest climates in Britain, the Scilly Isles is a year-round destination. Which isn’t to say it doesn’t get some stormy, windy weather from the Atlantic. Spring is a spectacular season, when wildflowers come out all over the islands, inundating them with colour. Summer is also very popular for beach visits and sunbathing. Gig rowing is a popular sport in the islands, and worth seeking out during the racing season. May Bank Holiday is the biggest event of the calendar, as the Scilly Islands host the World Pilot Gig Championships. There’s also an arts festival held the same month, while all of September is devoted to food and drink, with the cross-island Taste of Scilly festival.

Top things to do in Isles of Scilly

St. Agnes

The mile-wide island of St. Agnes maintains an ever-peaceful demeanour, containing just a pub, a café, and a pretty church with stained-glass windows. There are a number of watersports on offer, including snorkelling, and you can walk across a sandbar at low tide to explore the Stone Age monuments left on the islet of Gugh.

Bryher

Bryher has a bit of everything that makes the Scilly Isles so unique — a rugged and rocky west coast that showcases the Atlantic’s wilder side, sheltered sandy beaches on the east, and pretty green hills linking the two. There’s even a painters’ studio and a view across to Tresco.

Eastern Isles

With puffin colonies in residence from May to July, and seal pups from August to December, a boat trip around this magnet for wildlife can fascinate any time of year. It’s also conveniently close to the stunning beaches of St Martin’s.
