Character 3 Bedroom Cottage near the coast

KateRating, 5 stars2 days ago
We had a special few days in North Norfolk and made some lovely family memories - including a day on the beach and a walk to Cromer, with a cosy fire at the end of the day. The walk across the fields back from the pub as the sunset was very pretty.

Beautiful retreat in converted dairy pets welcome

JemmaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
I have absolute nothing but wonderful things to say about our stay. Dairy barn is located in Roger’s beautiful Home Farm. Lush gardens and waking up to birds singing. A lovely fully enclosed paddock for our dog Loki to play tug and ball, with outside seating so we could enjoy a glass of wine. The accommodation is homely, exceptionally well kitted out, clean and inviting. There is a large comfy bed, whirlpool bath, with large separate shower. Comfy sofa and kitchen which is spacious and had everything we needed. The welcome basket and goodies were super generous and gratefully received . Roger is a lovely host, who greeted us on arrival and ensured we had all we needed. At the end of our stay, checked we had a good break. We will definitely be back

Countryside Retreat

ElenaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We stayed here for a friend’s birthday weekend and had the BEST time! The house was even better than the pictures – absolutely massive with a huge garden, plenty of space for everyone, and even a super cool treehouse that added a fun touch. Every room had the perfect amount of bedding, and the beds were really comfy too. Our favourite feature was the speaker on the bathroom mirror! When we had trouble working the TV julie sent someone over straight away to help us. Julie was an amazing host – easily the best we’ve ever had on Airbnb. She responded to all our questions straight away and made everything feel so easy. Couldn’t recommend this place more – we’re already talking about coming back!

Your guide to Mundesley

All About Mundesley

Colourful Victorian-style beach huts line golden-sand beaches in this charming seaside village on the Norfolk coast. Part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Mundesley has been a holiday spot since the 19th century. Gorgeous beaches dot with rock pools just wait to be explored, and if you’re keen to get out on the water, a surf school runs on the beach during summer, and fishing is popular year round. The town is also home to cute flint cottages and a restored medieval church, as well as eateries where you can buy a fish-and-chip supper to take onto the beach or enjoy a proper pub meal indoors.

You’ll be able to breathe in the fresh sea air on cliff-top walks to other coastal villages. You can look out at a seal colony at Horsey Gap, perhaps, or play a round of golf at a hundred-year-old course with gorgeous views. Visit the Norfolk Broads National Park nearby for boating, birdwatching, and wandering through pine woods.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Mundesley

Norfolk has a temperate climate and is warm rather than hot in the summer months of July and August. Late spring and summer are wonderful times to book your holiday cottage in Mundesley and get the most out of Mundesley’s beach scene. In May, the nearby towns of Cromer and Sheringham host a crab and lobster festival that will allow you to taste the delicious fruits of the North Sea.

Winters are not very cold but tend to be cloudy and windy on the exposed coastline. If you’re visiting Mundesley at this time of year, you’ll find a quieter, more contemplative atmosphere in town, and some businesses may be closed around the winter holidays. If you do decide to visit during the cooler months, bring a scarf or hat to keep brisk coastal winds at bay.

Top things to do in Mundesley

Mundesley Maritime Museum

The tiny but charming Mundesley Maritime Museum is set in a coastguard lookout station built in 1928. Learn all about dramatic sea rescues and shipwrecks, the operation of the lookout station, and the fascinating fossil record of this section of the North Sea coast.

Norfolk Coast Path

The Norfolk Coast Path runs 135 kilometres from Hunstanton to Sea Palling, closely following the shoreline, a landscape of sandy beaches, craggy cliffs, and rolling dunes. As you follow the path, stop for tea in the pretty villages along the way, or go birdwatching in tidal marshes and creeks. If you’re looking for shorter hikes, there are plenty of walks that depart from Mundesley and allow you to take in the beautiful scenery.

Southrepps Commons

The Southrepps Commons Local Nature Reserve, located 4 miles southwest of town, is carefully managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust. An 800-metre accessible boardwalk cuts through the marshes and meadows so you can take in the rich diversity of plants and wildlife. Fluffy bog cotton waves in the wind, rare wild orchids hide in the long grasses, and reed warblers hop through the reedbeds in this protected site.
