The area around the water was clean and the sauna was spacious and refreshing!It was a snowy day, but there was a stove and I was able to sleep in a warm room!

Ken wins the award for the most thoughtful host. Every little detail to make sure we had everything we needed was covered. He even had toothpicks! Such a great location to walk to shopping and countless restaurants.

A beautiful, cozy apartment in the heart of Gion district Kyoto. Location is excellent. We enjoyed seeing geishas and meikos regularly on evening walks just outside the apartment. It was close to hiking trails, many sightseeing destinations, trains, restaurants, etc. In the heart of everything. And yet super quiet, being on 4th floor with no neighbors (above or on sides) in an alley. Only downside is that the kitchen is very efficient, single burner, no counter space, etc. But you should be mostly eating out anyway. Also there is a red light at night in the main room from the fire alarm—we had to cover it with a jacket to sleep. Not sure what other reviewers thought was deceptive—it was as I expected, and honestly the view is phenomenal. Yes there is a parking lot but you can hardly see it and beyond that are the beautiful Kyoto hills and tops of temples peaking out. Tatami room was wonderfully cozy. Furniture and linens were quality. Stayed super warm inside. We miss it already!!

His apartment has an unbeatable location that is close to everything while it has all the privacy and quietude. The decor of the apartment enchanted us at first sight. He prepared everything for us neat and tidy, even including salt and pepper. The bedroom is comfortable, like any plush and chic hotels in the world. The terrace refreshing, and we felt at home on the first step into it. He has a well-equipped kitchen. They have all kinds of silverware and cutlery. Ken is working very hard to ensure everything is more than alright for us. We are so grateful for his kindness and generosity.

It was a nice, almost four storey apartment. The place is 20 mins away from the station. But it was a nice walk from the station if the weather is good. The view from the place is great. You can see the lake and the mountain. We love the nature the most.
