Beach house holiday rentals in Playa Grande

Our second stay at this home, and just as great as the first. Beautiful home with unbelievable sunset views, across from the vibrant, but clean and laid-back beach scene. You can get easy morning walk into the shops and restaurants in the Mariana area. Front row seats for beach fireworks, if you happen to stay over the New Year's. Our initial trip schedule was delayed due to the rare closure of the Liberia Airport due to storm damage. The host was kind enough to work with us to reschedule a few weeks later at no additional cost. Thank you for saving our family vacation!

This place was absolutely perfect for our surfing trip!! Private beach access, beautiful yard looking out to the ocean and spacious home. The hostess was responsive and communicative and very friendly and helpful if we had any questions. I hate to write this review as I don’t want anyone else to know about the place as I would like to keep it to ourselves next year. ☺️. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. Absolutely a wonderful place and wonderful hosts!!

Our family loved the location of Casa Circa Del Mar, it is wonderful being so close to the beach and not having to drive all the time . We also enjoyed the pool so much and had many wonderful meals outside on the Veranda . The house was amazing with so much space and has everything you need. The Host was very kind and always available and responsive. We were celebrating an 80th Birthday and she had decorations and candles for us which was very sweet.

We were totally immersed in the beautiful ocean sunsets, the sound of the rhythmic waves landing on the shores directly outside our Airbnb, the early morning sand beach walks, the sight of fish as we snorkeled a few hundred feet away, and the relaxing mornings on our front patio. There is a wide variety of restaurants in the area. These were perfect days. Our first night we were awakened several times by restless barking neighborhood dogs. The next evenings were fine. We feel the dogs became accustomed to us. Know that we never saw the dogs, so we never felt threatened. Definitely recommended.

The place is wonderful, clean, private and welcoming. We will definitely return my family. Vidal was aware of anything we needed. We felt very safe.

To say we had a fabulous stay would be an understatement. The location was perfect (not too busy, but not too far from restaurants/shopping etc) and Shawna was super helpful in all aspects of our stay including great local restaurant and excursion recommendations (local horseback riding ranch was phenomenal as were our surf instructors!). Tatiana was amazing and her cooking was delicious (highly recommend utilizing her cooking-I am still dreaming about her Arepas). We always felt safe and comfortable at the house and it was perfect for our group's two young families (kids ages 9, 8, 5, 4 and 3). The house also had easy to carry beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards and games. The living area/kitchen was a great hangout space and the outside spaces were also wonderful. So sad to have to leave but will hopefully be back in the future! Thanks for a great stay!

Our stay at Jarrod’s place was incredible! Best vacation house you could ask for. Perfect location right on the beach but still super private. Having a swimming pool right on the ocean is about as good as it gets, we usually spend most of our vacation time at the beach but this house was so great we wound up spending more time by the pool. Also the house is stocked very well, everything an Airbnb/rental house should have this house has. Jarrod was very accommodating and helped us with transportation and Covid testing at the house. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting the Playa Negra area! We will definitely be coming back!

The house is exactly as seen in pictures provided. The location was a little tricky to find at first but afterwards, was a breeze to locate. Very remote location if you're looking for a house away from all the hustle and bustle. Alejandro was very responsive and was very prompt at correcting an issue we experienced on day one. His willingness to help us in any way we needed was much appreciated. I would say, if able, try to stop at the local store for any groceries needed if you're not renting a vehicle. We frequented the local Soda Chevos for several meals and were pleasantly surprised with the options available. We absolutely LOVED our stay and will definitively consider booking again!!

I cannot say enough great things about this airbnb. First, the host was super responsive and organized rides from the airport for us and proactively checked if things were going ok. Willy is the manager and was beyond amazing. We had major flight issues and he helped us with transportation changes and then let us stay an extra day when a flight was cancelled. He also arranged a great zipline tour for the kids. The location is perfect-away from the business of the town but an easy walk into town and to the beach. The house was comfortable and it was nice that our kids each had their own room and bathroom. The house has a really nice backyard area with a pool and it was fun to be outside even in the rain since there was a covered area. It was also great that we were able to avoid renting a car and just walk everywhere. Overall, we had a great time here and I am very grateful for such help from Willy and Sandi.

Airbnb Review: A Dream Stay in Costa Rica We recently stayed at Brenda’s beautiful Airbnb in Costa Rica, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, Brenda made us feel welcome with her warm and friendly demeanor. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable, even helping us arrange transportation to explore the areas we wanted to tour (a paid service, but so worth it for the convenience). The property itself was a slice of paradise. The home is private and well-maintained, complete with a stunning waterfall pool that was the perfect spot to unwind after a day of adventures. The surrounding jungle views are breathtaking—you feel completely immersed in the natural beauty of this incredible country. We loved it so much that we even found ourselves discussing the possibility of living here permanently. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with excellent hospitality and amazing scenery, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you, Brenda!

What a perfect place for our family of 10. The pictures really don't do it justice - it felt like we were at a resort! We had plenty of room to spread out between the different casitas and the beautiful palapa was a great place to relax, play cards or prepare a wonderful meal to share. The kitchen was well stocked, and we had everything we needed. The pool was a great way to cool off after the day's activities! The area was quiet and away from the crowds of Tamarindo which was certainly close enough if needed. There were a handful of restaurants walkable (our favorite was Il Rustico) from the house along with the beach. Surfboard rentals were easy and reasonably priced, and we enjoyed several days surfing. We would absolutely stay here again.

Strongly recommend this accommodation. The thing that we really loved is that you enter the home, you're still technically outdoors the common living areas are exposed to the sky but the place is nice and private for yourself and your friends. The bedrooms are fully protected which made sleeping very comfortable. It was really nice being able to jump into the pool and then walk around the common areas without having to dry off. Location was perfect. It was a peaceful location but still within walking distance of everything so just left the cars and walked everywhere. Would definitely stay here again

Great quiet location, but a little far from good options for food. A car is definitely necessary if you are going to eat out. We just bought food at the local market and brought it back to cook. It was very quiet and we had monkeys right outside and had fun watching them every morning and afternoon. Ocotal beach is just a 2 minute walk away! Would stay again!

Naomi’s place was perfect for our family of 4. It was clean, well appointed and the beds were very comfortable. Check in was easy and when we had a plumbing issue, Naomi was very responsive and kind. The beach is an easy 4 block walk. Highly recommend.

This is a very nice Tico house. This house is best for those who want to enjoy outdoor living. The pool was nice. The outdoor kitchen was nice. The 7-8 outdoor seating area were nice. There is a cool path right to beach which is just steps away. If you need a large, sealed living room and indoor dining to watch TV this may not be the place for you. But if you enjoy open air during the day and rooms with great AC at night you may love this place like we did. Eva cooked us breakfast every morning. Concierge checked us in. Roberto is the hound keeper and I felt comforted that that people would not wander onto the property.

We loved our stay at Las Palmitas in Playa Junquillal! Chiara, the property manager, was amazing—responsive, professional, and warm. She greeted us, gave a great tour, shared local tips, and was flexible with checkout. The property was modern, clean, and well-equipped—we lacked nothing. It’s close to two beaches (a short walk, though we drove). The rural vibe, with dirt roads (4x4 recommended), added charm. Bernardo’s by Playa Junquillal was a highlight—sunsets there are unreal. Locals were friendly and laid-back. Costa Rica is stunning, and Las Palmitas made our trip perfect. We’ll be back!

We absolutely loved Soren and Melanie's place at The Enclave at Playa Avellanas. It was modern, beautifully decorated, clean and filled with natural light. We love to cook and the kitchen had great counter space, all the appliances we needed to prepare our meals, and a view of the pool and gorgeous landscaping. Soren and Melanie were very responsive when we had questions. They also provided a binder with a lot of great recommendations for beach excursions, grocery stores and restaurants. The Enclave is just gorgeous, private and quiet. All the houses are grouped around the most beautiful swimming pool we've ever seen. I swam my laps in it every morning. We also loved that while The Enclave was just a short walk to the beach and multiple restaurant, it was extremely private and secure. We would highly recommend Soren and Melanie's house to anyone considering a trip to Playa Avellanas! And I would recommend this area to anyone considering visiting Costa Rica.

Great big open place. We were a group of 7 and we felt like being home. We received the hole family for dinner ( 13 persons) and Still had enough space. It is quiet and private. Enough space for parking. There a small restaurant right next to the house and a beautiful beach at the end of the street that you can go by walking. The place is also close to Tamarindo town.

We had an absolutely magical stay at Casa Pelicana! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how impeccably clean and welcoming the space was. The location couldn’t have been better—perfectly situated to explore all the nearby attractions while still offering a peaceful retreat. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed, making it easy to cook meals when we weren’t out enjoying the local restaurants. The decor is absolutely stunning—tasteful, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, creating a relaxing and charming atmosphere. But what truly set this stay apart was Hazel’s incredible hospitality. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and made us feel right at home. I can’t wait to return and experience the magic of Casa Pelicana again. Highly recommend!

This was our third time to Playa Grande and second time staying in this house. It's the perfect spot for a family of 4 looking to surf, relax on the beach and by the pool, and enjoy the natural beauty of Playa Grande. We spent our mornings and majority of the day surfing and then afternoons relaxing by the pool. Our evenings ended with the most amazing sunsets and then walking to dinner at our favorite spot, Cafe Mar Azul! What a perfect way to spend the day in paradise. Felipe's house is simple and comfortable with easy beach access. The neighbors are so friendly, and the gated area feels extremely safe. Playa Grande has stolen our hearts, and we feel right at home staying at Felipe's house. Can't wait to get back again soon! - Ann

The house is perfectly designed to accommodate a large group, kids friendly, clean and well located, about 7 min walk to the beach. Alex was super nice, allowed us to check in earlier, provided very clear directions and check in instructions. She always responded quickly, provided great local recommendations, and connected us with a great chef, who turned out to be cheaper than any restaurant and prepared enough food to last for days. Our family of 10 really enjoyed the house :)

We had a great stay at Jeff and Gina’s place! They were great communicators from the beginning. Instructions were very clear on finding the unit, and it is in a gated community so felt safe. The location was perfect for us! With a 12 and 16 year old, it was fun to drive the golf cart we rented into Tamarindo where it is much busier. But then we could retreat to the quieter Langosta at the end of the day. We loved the beach club, which is very close to the condo. There is also a nice market/restaurant, Fish and Cheeses, across the street. Jeff and Gina had a nice guide that we could access with info about the condo and local recommendations. The condo was clean and it was nice to arrive to a big platter of fruits for our stay. We loved watching the howler monkeys in the tree right outside! We recommend this place for a great stay.
