Holiday rentals with lake access in West Somerset District

We had a wonderful stay at Bridesmere over New Year and it was just what we needed. Peaceful, beautiful area, lovely comfortable home from home. We appreciated the enclosed garden for our spaniel, the beautiful and spacious bedrooms and the living area which was large enough for all 7 of us, two families. WiFi was strong upstairs so no issue with all of us connected and the tv had all apps we needed to watch films with no buffering. There is a beautiful walk through the forest along the river just minutes from the house which leads to a very nice pub serving good food. As other reviews mention, the kids room smells a little musty/damp but this was not a huge issue and we opened the bathroom window after showering which helped. Kitchen well stocked but knives are a little blunt! Children loved the games barn and not having to bring bikes with us was really helpful and appreciated. Overall we couldn’t have asked for a nicer stay and we would definitely return. Thank you for having us.

We really enjoyed our stay. J was super accommodating for our very last minute booking. A beautiful home near shops, restaurants and a short drive to the beach. The house had everything you could need and more - will definitely be booking here again!

Mill View Cottage was the perfect place for a short getaway. It is cosy, warm and clean with everything you need for your stay. The bed was comfy with plenty of blankets to keep you warm but since the heating keeps the cottage perfectly warm these were just nice to have to snuggle on the sofa in front of the wood burner! You can literally step out the door and walk the Tarka Trail and beyond and there are plenty of beaches nearby as well. Hannah was super proactive in communicating ahead of my stay and whilst I was there and her directions were really helpful in finding the courage as it's tucked away down a lane. I would have stayed longer if I could have because the cottage felt so welcoming and homely

What a comfortable place! It was really well appointed and had everything we needed. Plenty of storage and well equipped kitchen. Wendy is very friendly and helpful too. I especially liked the eco friendly shampoo and conditioner provided (the bottles can be refilled too) and the availability of a compost pot for food waste. We really could have stayed a month if we did not have to get back. The view over the estuary from the bedroom is beautiful and constantly changing with the tide, light and weather. The place is really quiet too, I was concerned that there might be road noise from the nearby bridge but there was remarkably little even when outside the property and none at all inside

We had an excellent stay as a family at Pollyanna’s place. The accommodation was excellent, spacious and very well equipped. The property has a large but private and secure garden area including outdoor hot tub which was excellent, perfect after a long day walking on the beach. The addition of the lake with paddle board and small rowing boat was always a really nice additional touch, I can imagine this is excellent during summer stay (we had a go given we got lucky with a sunny March weekend too!)! The location is great, very close to a number of lovely beaches. Pollyanna was an excellent host, she provided lots of detail and recommendations upon booking and also shortly before our stay and was always very responsive. We’d love to stay again for a future family trip away!

So Home was clean and tidy and well presented. The hosts were very amenable and provided us with some treats upon arrival. There were clear instructions and the location was superb. Communication was excellent cannot fault

We booked this as a special family trip as my sister and her children were visiting from New Zealand, we wanted somewhere memorable and a bit different, Emillies place was certainly that! the photos really don't don't justice, it's a spectacular space and set in beautiful surroundings. The home was well equipped and we all agreed the beds were really comfortable- like being in a boutique hotel! and 3 bathrooms for 5 guests was amazing luxury! We had a little problem while there and Emillie sent someone round immediately to fix it! We were lucky with the weather and ale to explore the grounds and nearby Lyme, but we would have been equally happy being 'rained in' at the home!! We couldn't recommend it more highly to anyone looking for a 'something special' staycation. thanks Emillie.

Badgers House was the perfect venue and location for a large family break. House was well equipped and comfortably furnished. The indoor pool proved a knockout with the children - especially as the weather wasn’t great! The indoor games room was a hit for the male adults, who enjoyed hours of pool, and they hit the gym too. The woodland walk was perfect, we spotted a male deer, the children loved it! Hide and seek in the house was so exciting and kept the little ones entertained for hours! Thank you to Max and Alex for being superb hosts and giving us this beautiful home and setting to enjoy. Our granddaughter broke her heart to have to leave! We will definitely be returning and may need Toad Hall next time for more family members to come along and enjoy the beauty of this peaceful place.

Best Place Ever Apartment exceeds the pictures in all ways. Most gorgeous AirBnB I have been to in my life. Host Guy is the sweetest, most helpful man. Make sure you walk to the beach and check the surrounding beacons for a hike.

I stayed for a month in Rachel's place as I moved back from abroad and needed a base to get settled back from. Rachel was a great host and always there for support, she even gifted me some homemade flapjacks during my stay The property was exactly as pictured if not slightly bigger, the location was easy to find. You very much feel like you're out in the countryside in Bishop Sutton and the lake is 10 minutes away and it's a lovely walk.

Jo and Graham are great hosts. My dog and I felt welcome immediately. Very good amenities and beautiful surroundings. They went above and beyond for me.

Lovely stay at Debby's place, easy check in very responsive host. had everything we needed. Great location on the site.

This was our first Airbnb stay and we didn't know what to expect. We were extremely impressed with everything provided by Loretta, the home is beautiful. Everything we needed and lots of extras to make our stay special. Loretta was really helpful and friendly. The property is in easy walking distance of the shops, beach and harbour, with lots of bars & restaurants close by too.

Stayed in Cardiff for a stag party the apartment was ideal for us only a 5 minute uber into the centre everything was tidy and as advertised

Beautiful apartment with everything u need. Right next to the ocean, u could hear the waves in the night coming in. Would recommend :)

Excellent flat to stay in with beautiful views from both bedroom and living room. Kitchen was well stocked with kitchen utensils and plates. Kitchen and bathroom were very clean. Host gave great instructions on all the processes needed for check-in, finding the place, and general rules.

We had a lovely stay over the new year at this beautiful property. We were warm and comfortable and the cottage is finished to an extremely high standard throughout. Huge lounge with a fireplace and loads of sofa seating. Kitchen/diner is bright and airy with large lantern roof light and underfloor heating. Dining table with seating for six. All the kitchen appliances and equipment you could possibly need. Bedrooms have king size beds and loads of wardrobe space and two of them have patio doors opening to the outside. Jacqueline was very welcoming and provided bread and milk prior to our arrival, along with some lovely treats. She responded quickly to any queries we had, and could not have been more accommodating. Cottage is very private despite being adjacent to a larger house. Plenty of parking available. Only a couple of minutes’ drive into Chew Magna, or a 10-15 minute walk. A nice village with three pubs, a coffee shop and a convenience store. We would definitely come again.

What a great place. So cosy and homely feeling. Everything we needed to settle in straight away for our little break. Would definitely recommend 😍!

This is a great place to stay . Catherine, the host was superb . Really helpful when I asked questions, and always replied promptly . The accommodation is great , with an AGA cooker , log stove , and a very comfy bed ! The lane to get there is very narrow, but you soon get used to it. We will be back !

Our second stay at the Hayloft and won't be our last. Gorgeous place set in beautiful grounds. Cute animals and we were excited to see Kitty, one of the kittens we met on our last visit. Very safe for our 10 year old son to explore independently, whilst taking photos of the animals. Owners friendly and informative. See you next time 😊

The accommodation was lovely and beautiful surroundings. Fran was really lovely and great with her recommendations. We drove to The Plough in Wrington and the food was lovely. Had an easy and beautiful drive to Cheddar Gorge also.

Gorgeous cottage in a really picturesque place. Accommodation has all necessary amenities. Kaye & Richard are lovely hosts - hospitable & knowledgeable. Beautifully scenic walks literally on their doorstep. And it’s just a short drive (20 mins) from the coast where there are some stunning walks. Could have done with a couple more days to explore the area!

A lovely renovation on this cottage. Everything was in place and we had a great stay. Megan and Michaela were very responsive to our questions and always friendly and flexible. It was also nice to meet David the neighbour who helped with the wood burner and with local knowledge. Thanks. Walking along the cycle track in the valley is level and scenic. The tracks up the valley sides give stunning views but they are steep and rocky so boots and good legs are recommended. I recommend a drive to the beach at Ogmore-by-sea where the community cafe serves good cakes and coffee with a view of the sea and north Devon . Also drive along the heads of the valleys road and stop to admire the stunning views over Treorchy.

We really enjoyed our long weekend stay at The Hermitage. The accommodation is as described,if not better , very comfortable bed, great view from the patio. A 5 min walk up behind The Hermitage reveals stunning views of the countryside & Blagdon Lake. Cheddar Gorge is a short drive away. We thoroughly recommend The Hermitage for a relaxing break.
