Amazing converted church -Dorset’s Jurassic Coast

FionaRating, 5 stars5 months ago
We had the most wonderful time. The church was fantastic and it felt a privilege to stay in a historic building that was also comfortable, spacious and had all the amenities we needed. literally a home from home. The location is top notch with many brilliant places to visit. Comms with the property manager was good too. Thank you Gordon and Ellie

Sunset strip

We had a wonderful few days here. The view is addictive! We stayed up way too late tracking vessels coming in and out of Southampton. The chalet is spacious and beds very comfortable. It was a bonus to be able to park the camper van right behind the chalet and to bring two small dogs. Sadly weather was too poor to make use of the pool this time. Perhaps we missed the instructions but we had troubke finding no 77. Advise looking at the site plan as you enter the holiday park. All in all a very good stay.

Stunning 2 Bedroom, Dog Friendly With Lovely Views

KayRating, 5 stars2 days ago
We had a wonderful stay here, we felt very welcome and after a stressful journey Jo was so kind and got the bungalow ready for us as quickly as possible so we could check in early. It’s such a lovely space, very cozy and well equipped. The views are beautiful and the garden was perfect for the doggies. The beds and pillows are very comfortable, we all slept so well. We had a lovely breakfast basket, treats for the doggies and Jo left me a card for my birthday. It’s a great location to explore, we would highly recommended staying here.

Charming cottage in Stour Provost

JudithRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We have just returned from Caroline’s beautiful cottage. It was everything we wished for and more. The cottage had everything we needed, the beds were extremely comfortable and the cottage was exceptionally clean. The surrounding area was very quaint and pretty and there was lots to explore in the area and a bit beyond. We spent NYE at Durdle Door, an hours drive away but well worth it. Would highly recommend Caroline’s cottage and our dog loved it too.

Sea Drift - a beautiful Fisherman’s Cottage

ChrisRating, 5 stars7 months ago
This a real gem, perfect for exploring the Isle of Wight. The property is tucked away in a quiet mews only 2 minutes from the town centre. The house was immaculate upon arrival and Susan the host had left some nice touches like the bottle of Prosecco in the fridge, as well as other treats. Very comfortable beds and a decent shower which was nice. Lovely spacious downstairs accommodation and nice comfy sofas in the lounge. Outside is a real sun trap ideal for eating al fresco or just sunbathing. The host Susan was very helpful and always responded quickly. A great find, and highly recommended!

No44 Winsome Pet Friendly Shorefields nr POOL

SarahRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We booked this for 3 nights for a last minute break in the Easter Holidays. It was a lovely space for a family of 4 with everything we needed. The holiday park itself is very clean with plenty to do. You will need to pay for a pass to use the facilities (including the restaurant) which worked out £100 for a family of 4. The indoor swimming pool got very busy, however, I think this was because the outdoor pool wasn't open yet and it was a bit chilly for the beach - so I imagine that during the summer people spread out a bit more! We booked the The Beachcomber restaurant for our first evening. The food was ok but it was a fun place to eat as a little robot brings your food over. Overall, we had a lovely break and we would probably return in the future.

Charming Country Cottage

JeffRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We chose a long weekend the week before Easter. The house and the location matched our expectations and needs. Allan’s meet and greet on arrival was a warm welcome and informative. Brook House is a lovely home and we had a great stay. The spacious kitchen, bedrooms downstairs, wood burner and hot tub are real highlights. We enjoyed a BBQ and a Sunday Roast during our stay. The outdoor patio lights work very well to enjoy the garden in the evenings. The house is wonderfully located to explore the south coast and nearby attractions. We enjoyed a walk to the local club for drinks and live music. (Only available Fridays) on the first evening. We did a day trip to Brownsea Island which was fun. Moors Valley Country Park and Forest nearby offers a lot of options for a family Sunday outing. Our only fault was not staying a few more days!

Your guide to Christchurch

Welcome to Christchruch

People come to this riverside Dorset town with a coastal harbour to ease back into a relaxed pace of life and enjoy simple pleasures. Christchurch is a place to go sailing, fishing, and windsurfing; take riverside walks; or relax on the six sandy beaches that stretch for four miles along the coast, or head into the lovely nearby New Forest. Christchurch’s cheerful centre, retaining the original Saxon street layout, is full of independent shops, old smugglers’ pubs, craft ale bars, and tea houses.

There’s much enjoyment to be had around Christchurch Harbour, where the estuaries of the rivers Avon and Stour meet and form a wide expanse before eking out through a narrow gap into Christchurch Bay and the English Channel. At the upper end of the harbour at Christchurch Quay, Place Mill watermill has been turned into an art gallery, and kids can play on the Quomps, a grassy area with a playground and paddling pool. Hire a boat here, take a ferry across the river, or follow the pretty Convent Walk by the stream.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Christchurch

In summer, Christchurch turns into a playground filled with families staying in the area’s holiday cottages. But there’s a milder climate in this South Coast spot than much of the rest of the country, albeit one that experiences lots of wind. Those who enjoy wind-propelled water sports have their run of the calendar, with dinghy sailing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing thrills best enjoyed from Avon Beach. For a fun event that borders on silly, come for Dorset Dinghy Day in June, when people float down the River Stour on inflatables of all sorts, from rubber rings to flamingos. May sees a food and drink festival come to the pedestrian-friendly shopping centre of Saxon Square (which also hosts a weekly market on Mondays) and Mudeford Quay’s seafood festival. August’s Stompin’ on the Quomps festival fills the air with jazz on the harbour.

Top things to do in Christchurch

Mudeford Quay

At the entrance of Christchurch Harbour, Mudeford Quay has spectacular sea views, fishermen unloading their catch, restaurants, and shops selling crabbing gear. You can take a ferry to the golden beaches of Mudeford Sandbanks, a spit lined with colourful beach huts, and walk to the Hengistbury Head nature reserve, an important archaeological site that dates back to the last Ice Age.

Castles

Christchurch Castle and Norman House is a rare remaining example of Norman architecture, where you can explore a mound-top tower and a domestic home with its circular chimney miraculously intact. An infant by comparison, the lavish Highcliffe Castle, built in the 1830s in the Romantic style, was the former home of the founder of a famous department store in London.

Red House Museum

This former Georgian workhouse, which employed poor women and children, is now a museum that tells the story of Christchurch’s history, starting from the Ice Age, covering Saxon rulers and life during the Victorian era.
