Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Marco de Canaveses

We truly enjoyed our time relaxing at this scenic and historic place. Right along the river, attached to walking trails in a little park. Plenty of space and all the comforts of home. We spent a cool December evening here cozying up next to the fire and reading about the history of the region. The bridge/entrance dates back to roughly 1660-1740, incredible!

This was a dream vacation - we had just moved to Portugal and spent 2 weeks getting setup. We wanted a quiet week as a family to rest before school started. This place was perfect: perched on a mountainside in the middle of vines, the space was quiet, peaceful and beautifully designed and appointed. Paulo, the husband, is an architect who refurbishes vintage designer furniture. Teyna, the wife, is an amazing chef. Her breakfasts (included) we delicious and the dinners they offer in their adjoining restaurant and well crafted and tasty. Their place is pet friendly - we brought our dog, and they have a dog, two cats and two birds. We did outings to Porto, nearby Roman ruins, historic villages and swam in the rivers running through them. It was delightful.

João was friendly, humane and hospitable from the first moment to the last!😊 When we arrived and walked through the door of the house, João had taken care to have the whole house air-conditioned, we walked in to the comfort of a warm house...this attention to detail says it all...the house is very beautiful and spacious! I'm happy to recommend the house, and if I can, I'll do anything to go back!😊 Keep it up João, you're doing a great job!😊

It was a divine place to stay a few days with the family. Fantastic view and super relaxing. The host was also very responsive and helpful ☺️ would recommend the place anytime!

Where do I even start?! Staying at Maria's Casa do Rio felt like a magical home away from home. Maria and her sweet dogs gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and gave us a beautiful tour of the property with an overview of its history that you should not miss. She was very accommodating to our check-in time and sensitive to our plans during our stay, which were not many. Since we didn't have much planned for our spur-of-the-moment visit, we were delighted when Maria gave us many suggestions of activities on our own as well as ones with her such as a tour around the area, canoeing, hiking, yoga class, massage, cooking together and so much more. The charm and kind embrace by Maria was otherworldly and an experience in itself that we won't ever forget. If you have any reservations on booking your stay here, you shouldn't because you will not regret a single second at Casa do Rio. Every moment during our stay here is one we will treasure, and we'll be back to visit Maria and her Casa.

We loved our stay here. The house has three levels the entry level has two bedrooms and baths, the next level two more bedrooms and a bath, and the lower level the kitchen and living area, as well as access to the patio. We were traveling with friends and the various levels of the house allowed us space, while the lower level provided a cozy gathering spot for enjoying our time together. We loved the character of the place and incredible views of the Duoro River. The location also worked well for our explorations of the Duoro Valley. When we were there were some heavy storms, since the lower level is built into the stone there was some weeping of the walls, but it didn’t impact our ability to just enjoy the space. Despite the rain, we loved waking up and going out to the patio to enjoy the views. Fresh oranges from the garden offered us wonderful homemade juice. Definitely a place we would recommend to friends or family.

Quinta da Lameira was one of the best estates we've found in the last 10 years. We were a group of 6 adults and 4 children and the farm showed that it had all the potential for a few days well spent. The house is very functional, well-equipped and bright. The living room and kitchen, in open space, allowed the whole group to be in constant contact and the children had space to play. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The 3 suites were comfortable and the bunk bed room was perfect for the 4 children. It was the first house we stayed in where everything worked smoothly, from the hot water, heating, the electrical panel. The outside is very pleasant, even though it was in December, we just couldn't enjoy the pool. But even so, S. Pedro helped and, especially the children, managed to play on the slide and in the toy house. And we managed to have a barbecue. I believe a summer stay on this farm is amazing.

Great hosting, José was very responsive and flexible on schedules. The house was very clean with all the necessities. I recommend it.

Everything was perfect. Peter's Quinta is great and an oasis of calm. Great views, beautiful vegetation, spacious… Peter is very nice and was very flexible with check-in and check-out, although we arrived much later than announced. In the area you can go hiking, eat and also experience a lot of culture (e.g. Via Románica). Thanks, we'll be happy to come back.

Clean apartment, ideal for a family with two children, with a large terrace offering a beautiful view of the mountains. The opportunity to visit the Douro Valley, but also Porto, Braga or Guimaraes. Our host Filomena was friendly and very responsive, answering all our questions.

We really had a very nice time in Paul's apartment! We recommend 💯 %! Our stay was actually too short & we definitely want to come back sometime. For those looking for a unique experience outside of the mass tourism, you've come to the right place! In Paul's house you will be warmly welcomed and for a while it is also "your home" A unique experience of Portuguese life in the Douro valley. The area is also beautiful, the people are nice and everything is very affordable. We hope to return one day to this beautiful Portuguese paradise. 🫶

Great place located centrally to everything. Restaurants, cafes, bars, park and shopping all walking distance. Host was lovely and very attentive.

We had this desire, Fatima and Abel, and their family helped to make it happen by offering us their accommodation of very beautiful quality, typical, clean, with a beautiful view. The central proximity of the main places of this region of northern and central Portugal, not to mention the beautiful and very refreshing beaches, is an undeniable asset. Fatima and Abel's openness and communication allowed us to get away from the tourist spots and experience Portuguese life, its gastronomy from the inside. A real treat for our daughter and us! A great invitation to come back and discover other places in Portugal!

Awesome apartment close to the old city of Amarante (15-20 min by walk), very big and very bright, two double rooms, kitchen extremely functional. The best is a large balcony with an amazing view on the city and the sorrounding mountains. Elizabete and his husband very extremely kind both with the communication and the welcoming. Everything was great, I can only recommend this accomodation.

Superb apartment, clean, spacious and very well arranged. Has all the comfort amenities for a great family vacation. The kitchen is beautiful and looks like it has been replaced recently. Very good geographical location, close to shops and access to highways. Thanks to Cristina, Filipe and Catarina, thanks to you we had a great 2-week vacation in the Porto area.
