I spent a month at this countryside retreat, and it truly felt like home. Nestled in a stunning valley, the hut offers breathtaking views and a peaceful escape. Waking up to rolling hills and sheep grazing nearby made each morning feel special. The hosts, Karen and Brian, were incredibly kind and welcoming—always ready to help with anything needed. They went above and beyond to make the stay exceptional. Five-star hosts! The hut itself is modern yet cozy, with thoughtful eco-friendly touches. The wool duvet and mattress were not only comfortable but also a nod to sustainability. For anyone seeking a break from city life, this is the perfect retreat. The sounds of birds and sheep enhance the peaceful, nature-filled atmosphere. Whether hiking, taking long walks, or relaxing in the hot tub, it’s a place to truly switch off. Ideal for a romantic getaway—secluded, serene, and surrounded by nature. Highly recommend for recharging and reconnecting with nature.

Penny and Ant real nice people . If you want to unwind and go back to nature this is the place . The views and silence is perfect it’s a remedy . No 42” TV with mobile sockets everywhere this is off grid bliss , fabulous comfy bed in the hut and great shed for cooking , if your a 70s kid you’ll appreciate the shower and toilet , brilliant . Not just an over night stay but an experience of how things should be , regards Alan .

We booked this place for guests at our son's wedding party and they loved it!

Last minute Valentine get away with our two dogs. Despite pretty grim weather, you couldn't have wished to be anywhere cosier. Surprisingly spacious and everything you could think of, provided for a weekend away. Basic breakfast foods provided and of course Juliet's famous delicious short bread and doggie welcome treats.Private garden space adjoining a wood and secure field. Dogs roamed and played freely and safety. Bring lots of dog towels if you expect rain. Lovely shower in the cabin. Very well designed compost in a separate cabin. We kept close for dog exercise but there seems plenty of options for walking.. especially to pub...It's between 40 to 50 minute walk away. So many birds. We had such a lovely stay in the Shepherd's hut! so peaceful! The outside bath was a real treat as well as the yummy fruitcake waiting for us when we arrived. Bed was super comfy. We were sad to leave. Thank you Be and Richard.

A fantastic retreat in beautiful Dartmoor, the location is amazing

We had a great stay, was relaxing and a great location for walks, sightseeing etc. Mandy and Andy both very friendly and helpful. Would recommend booking ahead for any local pubs/restaurants as they are few and far between within a 10-20 min drive and busy at weekends/peak times, also bring a 12v charger for charging within the hut otherwise there are 3 point plugs 100m across the yard which can be used.

Me and my partner wanted a weekend away to relax and not have an expectation to get up to too much. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay, Clive was incredibly detailed and responsive in his messages. Great detail was given for how to get there as well as providing an online booklet detailing manuals for hot-tub, oven, wood burner as well as local places to eat, to walk and also bits about the animals at the location. We stayed for three nights and the first night was spent in awe of the view and peace it offered. As well as the hot-tub on the mild February night. Day two was bright and warmer and Clive and Nikki let us join them for feeding their goats in the field. After that we spent a lot of time on the bench at the river reading, followed by a BBQ as the weather was dry. Day three was a washout but even so the lodge is lovely and cosy so we didn’t mind. Just listening to the weather than the river rumbling was peaceful in itself. We would love to return in the summer.

We had a fantastic stay at Tracy’s hut. It was super clean and tidy and the hamper was a great touch. It was great added bonus that you could feed the goats who were super cute. Tracy was a great host and super friendly. Would definitely recommend a stay here and we will hopefully be back to visit soon!

lovely cabin. clean and well fernished. francoise even provided us with extra logs due to the cold nights forecasted.good location highly recommend rydon inn just down the road for food. close to local beaches ⛱️ lots of walks around. no signal or plugs for hair dryer however lovely place to stay

Chloe was an amazing host, giving easy to follow instructions and greeted us on arrival - even pre-heating the hot tub for us! The Shepard's hut itself is so lovely and it's clear Chloe has put a lot of effort into making this space special. The bed was super comfortable, the hut has everything we needed and was immaculate - Chloe even provided us with some bits for breakfast, which we didn't expect! The log burner keeps you nice and cosy throughout the night and coming back to the hot tub after a day out exploring to stare gaze can't be beaten! (Especially when Chloe pre-heated ours without us even needing to ask). The location is great, being around a 15 minute drive to Glastonbury but being just out into the sticks enough for some peace and quiet at night. We will definitely look to stay here again if we are back down this way, we loved every minute and didn't want to leave!

This shepherds hut must be the best in the South West! Lou is a fab host, so friendly and accommodating. The hut itself is even more stunning than the pictures - it has been so cleverly designed and decorated. It felt like a really luxury stay, with dressing gowns, lovely quality bedding and overall great facilities. The hot tub is glorious, with the candles and lights making it even prettier. The surrounding area is very picturesque and we would definitely return. Thank you Lou!

Jenny was a great host! The Cabin was spotless on arrival! Very cosy and well equipped... As previous guests had noted the bed is super comfy!! The outside area for dogs is brilliant. Definitely recommend the Culm Valley Inn! Fantastic atmosphere - delicious home cooked food - 15 min walk. Strand Stores serve an incredible breakfast and sell high quality local produce! We also enjoyed a nice day out at Sidmouth beach..

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The shepherds hut was great, especially with all the added extras of the hot tub and pizza oven (highly recommend getting the pizza hamper). The attention to detail throughout the place is so lovely and made the stay even better. Would definitely recommend to everyone and will stay again!

A very nice clean and tidy hut in Chris' sunny garden. Great location with easy access to town and to the walk around the top of Cheddar Gorge. Enjoyed falling asleep with the warmth and glow from the lovely little woodburner, and waking to a blackbird singing on the garden wall. Excellent fish and chip shop a short walk away (Tuckers, Chris's helpful recommendation).

We had a lovely 1 night stay in Woody. Jackie met us on arrival and couldn't have been more informative, helping us with how to use the appliances etc. It is a perfect place for a rest away from the city and such a cosy stay, with beautiful views. We would come back here in a heartbeat! Thank you.

We loved our stay at the Shepherds Hut, the surroundings were so peaceful, tranquil and beautiful. Feeding the fish was so fun! Highly recommend for a getaway.

We had a perfect few days at Shirley’s. The hut was surprisingly spacious and well thought out - it had everything we could need but no additional clutter. And it was SO warm! During our stay in December we only needed to use the electric heater provided intermittently. The hut really had the best parts of camping (nature, quiet) but with the amenities that made things a bit simpler (electricity, mains water and plumbing). Highlights in the local area included dinner at the Parlour nearby, the walk to St Catherine’s Chapel and lunch at Soulshine in Bridport.

Had an amazing time at Rosa and Marks Shepherds hut. They were amazing hosts and so welcoming and lovely and their dog Daisy was very friendly and got on well with ours. The Shepherds hut is fully kitted out and was everything we wanted. We couldnt have asked for a more magical stay and one we wont forget ! Cant wait to come back and stay again!

very lovely space was great to get away with only the birds and very occasional farm animal to listen to. the roads are slightly testing but the locals are used to it. as for the accommodation it's cosy and has everything you need. we would choose this again next time definitely.

Wow, what a wonderful 2 week holiday we had! We loved the chapel with its stunning views. A real place to switch off from the rest of the world and unwind - a thoroughly comfortable and unique glamping experience. Ken and Jo (and gorgeous Lyca) are lovely and were fantastic hosts making us feel so welcome, like family really. They provided privacy we craved but were on hand for anything we needed so we could relax in this beautiful setting. Super dog friendly (our little Barkley LOVED it!) and a great walk to the local village for great pub food. You should also check out Jo's exquisite veg! Plenty to do around, but we just wanted to keep coming back to our little chapel. Highly recommend!! Thank you so much Ken and Jo, loved meeting you both and see you again. Katie, Che and Barkley x
