Beautiful holiday let in Cornwall

CharleyRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Millendreath has changed dramatically in the 12 years since I first visited; although there is still no phone signal. The WiFi provided is invaluable and you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a lesser spotted telephone box... The apartment is a perfect base for exploring the area and I could have sat on the balcony looking at the sea for an entire day. Already looking at dates for next year.

Holiday home in Cornwall.

We had a very nice stay at Verity's accomodation. We arrived late at night but she still greeted us and showed us everything we need. The accomodation is in a very nice and calm location a 5 min drive from the Newquay and Crantock beaches. Overall can only recommend staying here!

Your guide to St Austell

All About St Austell

Lying just a few kilometres inland from the southern Cornish coast, St Austell is one of the largest and most significant towns in the region. This historically noteworthy market town has meandering cafe-lined streets with brilliant stone-built Georgian architecture and 15th-century churches. A thriving High Street commerce district provides some of the best shopping in Cornwall, and local restaurants in St Austell serve fresh seafood from the nearby coastal waters.

With the coast and hinterlands easily accessible, there are several opportunities for outdoor recreation like hiking, surfing, kayaking, and the exploration of historical sites, such as Restormel Castle. For a wider selection of cultural offerings, St Austell makes a great jumping-off point to check out the surrounding communities of Newquay, Plymouth, and Falmouth.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in St Austell

Short, moderately warm summers and long, chilly, rain-filled winter days characterise most of the year in St Austell. The temperate coastal climate of southern England keeps conditions relatively modest throughout the year, with only minor variations in temperature and moderate swings in precipitation between seasons. While June through August may have the overall warmest temperatures, the shoulder seasons, specifically the months of May and September, provide the lowest chances of rain, along with pleasantly brisk temperatures. These conditions make it an ideal time to book holiday cottages in St Austell, as well as to explore and hike the countryside.

In addition, there are plenty of options throughout the year in the wider Cornwall region to keep travellers entertained with local festivals and events. June, for example, hosts the Mevagissey Feast Week, a celebration of live music and local seafood dishes. Also, the Fowey Christmas market during the holidays hosts a brilliant display of colorful lights and display booths full of wonder and merriment.

Top things to do in St Austell

Shipwreck Treasure Museum

Over 8,000 artefacts dredged from the depths of hundreds of centuries-old shipwrecks fill this fascinating museum. Gold coins, cannonballs, diving equipment, and countless maritime artefacts are found in several different themed exhibits throughout the museum grounds. After an afternoon of exploration, the surrounding community of Charlestown, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, provides further opportunities to explore and discover.

Eden Project

Several large geodesic domes provide coverage for the world's largest indoor rainforest, Eden Project, which is dedicated to highlighting sustainability and conservation projects around the globe. Here you can wander artificial rainforest and Mediterranean climates, along with the associated flora and fauna, while gaining an education in conservation and the interplay between humans and our environment.

Menacuddle Well

In the wooded rural boundaries of St Austell is Menacuddle Well, a holy site dating to the 15th century that has only recently been uncovered and restored by locals. Located just a short walk from the town centre, ornamental gardens and lush forest line the leisurely path leading to the historical site’s stone structures and shallow waterfall.
