We had the most fantastic stay. The accommodation was really lovely. A real home away from home. Well equipped and the most comfortable bed I think we have slept in. It was so peaceful and just the break we needed. Really enjoyed exploring the area. Loved Masham and Ripon. I would highly recommend a stay here as it’s the best place we have stayed in. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay at Chequer Barn. The building is unique and we loved how it had been constructed. I liked sitting on the balcony watching the chickens and sheep with a coffee in the morning! Everything was as described and it was a lovely little retreat.

No hesitation giving 100% positive rating. Charming cottage perfect for a couple, in a lovely quiet village. We bought bacon and sourdough for breakfast at the fab local butcher, ate a good straightforward meal at the local pub, clearly popular with the locals in a Friday night, and said hi to the friendly sheep in the old church graveyard! Close to Fountains Abbey, perfect for parkrun, and lots to see jn the local area. Stunning sunshine helped too. Slept well, could park outside, had everything we needed. Super helpful hosts just next door. Would definitely go back and recommend.

What a find! A wonderful cottage with absolutely everything you could possibly need to fully enjoy your home from home. Beautiful decor, well thought out and top quality fittings and furnishings. Very, very comfy bed. Dave is a lovely host, friendly and welcoming. He kindly left us a surprise bottle of prosecco in the fridge as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. The welcome pack of milk, eggs, bread, orange juice and that amazing lemon drizzle cake was most appreciated. The cottage is situated in the lovely village of Kirkby Malzeard which was a wonderful base to explore the beautiful landscape and interesting towns and villages of North Yorkshire. Fountains Abbey and Masham are a must. We also enjoyed visits to Knaresborough, Ripon, Richmond and Harrogate - all within easy reach. We couldn't recommend Thump cottage more highly and hope to return ourselves (as many others have done).
