Julie and Hitesh were the perfect hosts, helpful and friendly, suggesting places to go and things to do. They went out if their way to help when our car broke down when we were let down by the RAC, arranging a garage to collect and fix our car, even taking me to the garage to collect it and allowing us to stay another night at short notice, not even charging us, cannot praise them highly enough, would definitely stay again. Before I forget, the property was perfect too, the area was so quiet and beautiful surrounding country side, a great stay in a lovely part of the world, thanks for having us.

Wow, what a stay! This place is cosy and comfy, with everything you need for a stay in the Cairngorms. A great base for anyone with a car. We had the sofa bed made up as we were two friends and it was plenty comfortable with enough space, there was plenty of hot water for showering. With the stove you can make the place very warm, and we managed to keep it going on a minimal burn all night so never got cold. If you’re not experienced with wood burners I’d recommend a hot water bottle as the night back up. There is a heater in the bathroom for your towels. Lina is very responsive and a great host. Their dog Jura is beautiful and so sweet, sitting with us in the sun. We got local advice on walks and borrowed some maps - thanks! There are plenty of local walks and Ballater is 12 minutes away with shops and pubs. Check out the “ringing stone” for a cool local thing to do. Internet good, TV has Netflix. Kitchen good for basic food with small air fryer, hob and microwave.

Magical, relaxing, calming, surrounded by beauty and nature. We cannot recommend Miep and Derrywood highly enough. Our only regret is we didn’t stay for longer, but hope to be back asap. 5/5 isn’t enough, as this home and host (Miep) well exceeded all our expectations. Thank you for the most blissful and memorable stay!!!

Great base for exploring the area. Modern kitchen/bathroom, very well kitted out with anything you could need. Lots of nice places to eat within a short walk - we recommend The Bothy for breakfast/lunch.
