Cabin holiday rentals in Birch Lake

Wonderful weekend with the kids and the dog. Loved the hot tub and the game room. Lovely, cozy place to enjoy as a family.

The Barn is a fabulously rustic and unique family getaway spot! We loved the open spaces, fireplace, hot tub and sauna. We enjoyed snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling on the trails. The kitchen had almost everything we needed and there were lots of games and books. The setting is private and beautiful. Any issues we had were handled immediately. Prompt communication by the caretakers was appreciated. The only issue we had was waiting almost 24 hours before the wood burning hot tub was ready to use. It also took quite a bit of maintenance to keep the water at the right temperature during our stay but we loved using it once it was ready! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful time swimming, fishing off the dock (caught a nice sized large mouth bass & panfish) and boating. We enjoyed the paddle board, kayak and screened in porch. We used the fire pit one night before the mosquitoes came out. We didn’t use the hot tub. We rented a pontoon from Brett at Island View Resort. He also sold bait, gas and a map of the lake with tips for fishing the lake. We caught crappies, bass, panfish and northern. The bunkhouse was prefect for our two boys. Our daughter enjoyed the loft room. It was nice that there were 2 fans. The kitchen was well equipped and we liked having a large electric skillet. Didn’t use the washing machine except for washing the towels before we checked out. The beds were comfortable. We also liked the large dining room table -used it to play games in the evening. We’d definitely recommend getting peanut butter twists from Pattens restaurant in Orr. It was a very relaxing vacation. We’d definitely rent it again.

Beautifully maintained house with plenty of space. Aaron was an excellent host and was proactive in thinking about what we may need for our week-long stay. The property was lovely and one could see the efforts to maintain the house. We enjoyed the hot tub, sauna and everything working as expected. Sound did travel well in the house so that is one thing to be aware of.

This Airbnb was a perfect place for a larger group due to the spacious and well planned space. Everything was high quality and felt built to last, which seems rarer and rarer nowadays. We used the pool/hot tub and pickleball facilities. Pool+hot tub were a nice size and there was plenty of seating. We enjoyed the pickleball but the paddles did seem aged. It would be nice for the resort group to implement self check in for the ease of the guests but Crystal at the front desk was a friendly face.

The photos don’t do this location justice! The accommodations were top notch, and Jeanne makes you feel like family! Worth every penny! Will be back again to show more friends and family this amazing place!

The property is as in the photos, very spacious in the inside. Right on the water, only a minute or two from downtown Ely, but worlds away from the City. Nice setting, plenty of room for all in your group. Multiple levels, built to enjoy being on the lake, so many nice touches, and the kitchen is well stocked, with plenty of glasses/plates and everything required to feel at home. Plenty of towels! Hot tub is in a private setting! Second floor is reached by open stairway, includes an open area overlooking first floor, that includes conversation area with futon, and large bedroom with great view of sunrise and attached bathroom with shower and large jetted tub. We were just two, and felt comfortably together, larger groups will not feel crowded, and two cars can park in the garage, and they provide two remote garage door openers, so you do not have to get out of your car to open or close the garage door. Truly is like having your own place in the woods, if you were a millionaire!

Mariah was an excellent host and the cabin was exactly what we were expecting. Will definitely stay again if in the area. 5 stars for host and cabin.

Better than advertised! Derek and Brandon are the consummate hosts for their unique “cabin” stay. We stayed three nights and still didn’t take advantage of all the amenities (though the indoor sauna and fireplace got good workouts!). Even in wet winter meltdown weather, the place has a little bit of fairy tale to it with a covered bridge and patch of woods for wandering. Summer outdoors would be sublime, but the fabulous sun room gave us the next best thing. We spent a lot of time there reading, relaxing, and peering with our dogs into the forest vista, straining to spot a big buck or porcupine. If you’re looking for a posh spot to get out of the city and enjoy some nature, privacy, and great hospitality, this is a good bet.

We loved staying here! Such a beautiful area and the host was so responsive and nice :) I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy house that tons can sleep in!

Hands down our favorite Airbnb stay EVER! Brien and Shelley were so kind and communicative! Their cabin was peaceful, cozy, clean, beautiful, and an incredible value for the cost. We could tell they put a lot of love and intention into their space! Far enough from people for privacy but close enough to town for convenience! We could hear the creek from the porch and loved walking the trails. The bed was very soft and the gas fireplace created the perfect ambiance. The almost full surround of windows was perfect to watch the sun set and the stars come out. We were very sad to leave and we will definitely be back!

The perfect balance of peace, tranquility, modern amenities and adventure. Kristin has invested so much of herself in this place, it feels like home. It is so much more than advertised - new king bed (sleeping on a cloud), renovated bathroom (rainfall shower and view feels like a shower in the forest), peaceful setting (quiet solitude with visits from red squirrels and a variety of birds, and the patter of rain on the roof...ahhhh). We ventured to Sand Bay, Frog Bay, Red Cliff, and Bayfield...many treks, beaches with snow, a bog, stop at the Copper Crow (a must visit). We couldn't have had a more wonderful mother/daughter adventure. Thank you Kristin (and Kaya) for kicking butt and being ready in time, it was truly seamless. Highly recommend and will be back.

We were very pleased with our stay. The cabin is adorable with plenty of space around it. After reading a few reviews about the train tracks being so close I was a little concerned about safety and noise. Once we arrived I noticed that safety was not an issue as a river (stream) is located between the property and the tracks. The train runs through frequently but it didn't have a negative impact on our stay and we live in the country with no trains. Randy was very pleasant to work with and I can't say enough good things about our stay. it was a perfect fit!

Our young kids had so much fun! The highlights for them were definitely the swing set and the boat rental.

From the time we pulled up till we walked out the door on the day of check-out we were blown away. The place is beautiful, Lisa seriously thought about everything! We all arrived after a very long drive and it was so inviting and warm walking in to see what we got to call home for our stay. If you get the opportunity to stay here you will not be disappointed. My husband and I felt like it was the perfect place for our family trip and wished we would have been able to stay longer! When we make it back to Cloquet again we will for sure be staying in this beautiful cabin home! Thanks for all the help and everything you allowed for our family to enjoy Lisa!

Our family REALLY enjoyed ourselves in Kami & Matthew's cabin! We had set our sights on a location that was a bit more remote, cozy but spacious enough for our family of 4, while tucked away in a winter wonderland and beautiful surroundings. We got all of these things in one (except for the snow part which was unfortunate, but hard to control)! The layout of the cabin was perfect and the location was really great, and we all loved just enjoying the place in a relaxed tempo. We would highly recommend this wonderful spot and would definitely not mind coming back when there's more snow :-)

We stayed at John's place in the winter, and it exceeded our expectations. The place was clean and well-stocked. Running the log stove and sauna were a must, as they were the only way to stay warm. We saw a wolf and many other wildlife during our stay. Snowshoeing on the nearby lakes were a highlight. The trails marked by Dave were easy to follow, along with the maps they provided. If you are looking for a peaceful trip surrounded by nature, you found the right place! Thanks to John and Dave for being so helpful and responsive.

Beautiful location, and amazing cabin. Everything is as described and host was very responsive. Definitely need 4WD in the winter, as stated.

We had a wonderful stay at The Hideaway! We drove up from Mississippi for a white Christmas and spent most of our time ice skating on the lake, reading, and playing board games. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation: books, games, puzzles, the lake, even extra dog bags for clean up. My oldest went ice fishing a few times. As an amateur baker, I loved that the kitchen had things like bread pans, a pastry blender, a dough scraper, etc. It made the Christmas and New Year’s baking of delicious breads and desserts much easier. Highly recommend and considering another stay this summer!

This was a great little cabin for our kid free weekend away! They had everything in the kitchen you could need to cook meals. It’s tucked into the woods so it’s private and it’s just what we were looking for. It was clean and we had a great experience! Derek was quick and responsive when an issue came up.

This lovely cabin is newly built/renovated with some charm built in. It has most of the modern day amentities. It sits on a hill 25 feet above the river in a pinewood stand, and was perfect for a romantic get away. The cabin was quiet, spacious, and welcoming. Everything was clean, worked as instructed and communication was flawless. It is located a little off the beaten path and because of the winter we did think an all wheel drive vehicle was needed, given the refreeze and narrow/steep driveway. The walk to the river is short and the grounds are fantastic for an evening stroll or to park your butt with a nice view while sipping coffee. This is the perfect spot for a Northshore excursion without the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas.

It was a very well laid out two bedroom cabin. They provided ample towels, blankets, pillows and everything felt clean and comfortable. Their swing next to the lake was our favorite to watch the sun go down and have coffee in the morning. There is a nice fire ring with plenty of kindling and firewood provided! (So nice). The sauna worked well and was easy to use and warms up really fast. It was a wonderful stay, peaceful, quiet, and it felt private. We will be back for sure!!
