Cottage holiday rentals in Bishop Auckland

A very peaceful and quiet retreat in a lovely part of the North East. It was so quiet and relaxing spending time in the hot tub and inside the cottage. Although this is no fault of Rachael's and/or the cottage please be wary that if you're over 6 foot you will be ducking a lot! I banged my head twice coming out of the bathroom when going during the night and still half asleep (again, this is nothing against the host or the location - just a pre-warning!)

What a fantastic find this is! Gorgeous cottage in a very peaceful setting. Jon sent instructions prior to our arrival, and we were very glad of this- we did lose confidence with the sat nav and rely on this very detailed directions. No signal in the area but the WiFi at the cottage is superb. On arrival (during a December storm), we pulled up to see Christmas lights outside the cottage and walked into to a warm building, with the fire ready, and the room stunningly decorated for Christmas. A very wow moment for us and the children. The hot tub is situated in the back garden but a bit of a walk due to no back door. I'd recommend taking footwear and clothing suitable for this - especially in the cooler months. The hot tub itself was very clean, and a very good size. I would highly recommend this cottage and we hope to return in the future. Thanks to Jon and Kitty for being amazing hosts!

I absolutely loved our stay at Barnacre Alpacas, we stayed in the rose cottage, it was very clean and the hot tub was a bonus. We enjoyed the alpaca walk and talk, that was something I’ll never forget! On arrival the cottage was dressed up for a birthday surprise and champagne and chocolates was left for us. Thank you to Paul and Debbie, we will be back!

We absolutely loved our stay at Hannah’s lovely home! Beautifully furnished and the hot tub kept our children entertained. Richmond itself is lovely and easily walkable. And the Yorkshire Dales are just a stones throw away. We would recommend to anyone and look forward to returning!

Jane met us on arrival, explained everything, then left us to chill out. The welcome pack and fresh flowers were a lovely gesture and were much appreciated. The cottage was spotless and felt extremely homely. We very much enjoyed the games room and enclosed hot tub. The garden areas were vast with lots of outdoor furniture. We enjoyed a lovely ice cream at Archers ice cream parlour (10 min walk) and experienced both pubs in nearby Heighington, very friendly, great food and service in the George & Dragon. Another recommendation is the nearby Raby castle, definitely a worthwhile visit. We definitely recommend staying at Ivy cottage and look forward to returning there again. Thank you Jane.

A beautiful and cosy home which was spotlessly clean and as described. It had a well equipped kitchen and the hot tub was ready to use on our arrival. I only wish we had stayed for longer!

Four of us have just spent 3 nights in Peewit Cottage. From the moment we arrived, we all felt right at home, the place was spotless, beds very comfortable too! Everything you could possibly need for a self catering stay was provided. Having the private hot tub was fabulous, we loved it after full days of being tourists in the local area. On a separate note, we would highly recommend a visit to Beamish Museum which was about a 30 min drive, we also spent a day in Durham City & booked a 2.5 hr History/City Tour with walkaboutdurham - highly recommended. Tour Guide Peter is very knowledgeable & so passionate about his job plus he gives everyone a "free" cocktail voucher for Turtle Bay - well deserved after 2.5hrs walking around the City 🤣🤣

Homely place with nice touches including a fire waiting for us and home made bread. Ideal location to Yorkshire Dales and good value for what we paid. Host took their time to introduce us and show us around.

We've just returned from our second visit the House on the Hill. It's a lovely little space, so cosy and welcoming. Barry is a great host, proactive and responsive when needed. The new bathroom is a lovely addition! We have loved our latest visit and can't wait to return!

Burnside Cottage is a most charming home from home set in idyllic and peaceful surroundings. The location is perfect with so much to explore right on the doorstep. The cottage is immaculately clean and fresh, and a very comfortable place to come back to after a day out and about. Or simply a cosy place to relax in. The outside space is a real bonus too, especially when the weather is good. Everything is of a high standard and much care and thought have been put into making this a great place to stay. Thank you Alyson for making us feel so welcome. It was lovely to meet you, Andrew and Alfie, and of course, your delightful Mum. I'm already thinking about our next visit.

We had a lovely couple of days at Brandybuck cottage. Superb location in the heart of Kirkby Stephen with the high street a minute walk away and some gorgeous walks around the local area straight from the cottage. The cottage itself is a real home from home with a well equipped kitchen,comfy beds and a decent shower. There was plenty of space for our family of 4 with 2 older children(who appreciated the TV in each bedroom). Communication from the host was excellent with directions and check in details clearly explained so arrival and check in was a smooth process. Parking is on a road to the rear of the property which again was clearly explained and Marks directions took us to the exact place to park with further clear directions from there to access the rear of the cottage. Tea,coffee,sugar,milk and a packet of biscuits was provided upon arrival which was a nice touch and much appreciated. We booked this cottage as a last minute break and it is a real gem of a find.

Absolutely perfect little get away in a lovely area. My girlfriend really liked it and wants to go again. Very cosy and private place with a little garden for the dogs. Beautiful surroundings will 100% be booking again. Very responsive host even though we got there late. Thanks again

My third stay at Nicks place was brilliant. Looking forward to going again soon.

House was very well presented, only issue was the closeness of the road and having to cross it to use the car park, we had a young child with us and we had to be extra careful for him.. Anne

Anna was extremely helpful, accommodating and provided plenty recommendations of the surrounding area We felt right at home with our Dog and would definitely recommend the cottage if you are looking for a peaceful break with beautiful scenery. The cottage had all we needed and we will definitely return.

Abbey Hill Cottages to high above W. Hartlepool. They are well equipped.Beds are comfortable and so is sitting room furniture. Plenty of hot water. Good shower.Lots of space. I would stay again.

Spotlessly clean, perfectly quiet, and best of all, a 10-minute walk to Allen Banks. Highly recommended.

We had such a lovely weekend stay at Wrens Nest. The communication beforehand from the hosts was excellent, with with very clear instructions & some really good recommendations. there were also recommendations of where to eat, drink and walk in the area. We popped into Brass Monkey on Sunday which was such a cool place & I really recommend. Lots of shops, bars, eateries all a few mins away and plenty of lovely walks. The accommodation was spotless and exactly as described, very nicely decorated and the bathroom was wonderful with lovely toiletries provided and lots of thoughtful extras throughout the house. highly recommend

Ideal quiet location for our trip to Newcastle, followed by a trip to Bamburgh. Very comfortable accommodation with the added bonus of being pet friendly. Excellent communication with the host. Highly recommended.

The directions Rachel gave us were very precise and we arrived without any problem. The cottage is very warm, cosy and super clean with everything you need for a pleasant stay. We had no problems but as Rachel is close by I am sure they would be sorted quickly. Lanchester is a short drive away and has a good selection of shops and places to eat.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Peaceful, beautiful surroundings - having horses as our neighbours was so lovely. The cottage was super cosy, clean and tidy! The fenced off garden was great for our dog. Joanna was an excellent host providing lots of recommendations and information about the property and local area. We would love to come back again and would definitely recommend!
