Holiday rentals with lake access in Bowness-on-Windermere

The property was superb, even better than the photographs. It’s ideally situated for access to Bowness and surrounding area. The views from the outside terrace were fabulous - even though the weather was mixed! The hot tub and games room were well used and enjoyed by our mixed age group. Overall a brilliant holiday in a beautiful home and David our host met us at the property and even allowed us in early!

Lovely quirky cottage in a great location for all Coniston has to offer. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay, the kids loved the foosball table. The parking is a little tricky, especially if you have a bigger car, the video provided for parking is very helpful. The hosts were great, we had a slight issue with the locks but they sorted it for us promptly which we were very grateful for. If you’d like a unique property within walking distance of coniston water and plenty of places to eat this is a great option. We would however advise booking to eat if you want a table in the evening during holiday time, super busy! Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

We had such a fabulous stay at Carole’s place in Warton. The lodge was immaculate and so well equipped with everything we needed. The location was quiet, private and set around a lovely small lake. 30 minute drive to Windermere and 15 minutes to Lancaster. Would highly recommend and look forward to staying again in the future.

Beautifully furnished house, perfect for what we all wanted. Location even better than i expected, no need to use the car depending how far you want to venture., lovely shops, walks and restaurants. Shame we could only stay the 2 nights so will need to come back when we get chance. Thanks Suzanne

Fantastic accomodation, right on the lake with loads of thoughtful treats on arrival. Just what we wanted! Very close to bustling Bowness but also a short hop to tranquility of west shore. We enjoyed kayaking around the islands from our doorstep and took bikes on car ferry and visited Wray castle. Our teenage lads loved the footgolf 5mins from house too. Loads of great walks from nearby. We drove to grasmere (20 min) and did Fairfield horseshoe. Perfect base for all the family. Thanks Helen!

This was our 2nd stay at this lovely house. The location is nice & quiet & perfect for walking in the surrounding area & for the village pubs, shops etc. The house is very clean, comfortable & warm & is well kitted out with everything you need. Claughton Hall sits in a beautiful location; isolated and peaceful but easy enough to get out to surrounding areas. Accommodation was simply superb; well furnished with plenty of space, a well equipped kitchen, a cosy living/dining room with log burner and especially very, very comfortable beds! Despite the bad weather we had it was a most enjoyable stay. Sam is a great host and always on hand if needed. I would not hesitate to recommend and would definitely go back. Anne

Pictures don’t quite do this place justice! We had an amazing time, such a cute apartment and lovely views. Away from the busyness of the larger towns but still close enough to access. Louise was very helpful and the place was exactly what we were after!

The perfect accommodation for our group trip to Lancaster - had everything a group needs for a short stay and more. Ray and Sue were amazing hosts, extremely accommodating and helpful. Plenty of parking, well stocked kitchen, would definitely stay here again, thank you!

Brilliant accommodation for a short stay to provide great access to the hills around Wasdale. Lovely and quiet, very comfortable, all the facilities one needs, brilliant shower. We will be returning.

Excellent Airbnb with everything as described and to a high standard. Friendly hosts who provide a very cosy and comfortable place to stay. The location is peaceful and close to the waterways and beautiful views and sunsets. Good choice of eateries close by. Highly recommended.

Herdwick were great hosts with great communication. Everything about the flat is of a very high standard. The only thing that could help even further is a 'welcome book / guide' that explained applicances / walks / wifi (the mesh inc passwords), local shops / restaurant recommendations / recycling etc.......guests would just be able to get even more from their stay.

Great apartment, perfect for what we needed. We parked outside to unpack in the 1 hour free parking spaces then took the car to the local carpark where we left it for 3 days. The apartment is in a good location.

My family and I had an amazing time at Maple leaf cottage. The house was immaculately clean and well decorated. Great access to swimming pool my kids enjoyed every minute of it. Just wow. What a beautiful place, and even more wonderful hosts, Mark and Ruth. Staying here felt like stepping back in time, bringing back nostalgic memories of summer trips to the Lakes as a child. It’s a warm, traditional, and welcoming place, perfect for families or couples looking for a peaceful getaway. The hot tub and sauna were fantastic, properly heated and well-maintained, a cut above the lukewarm versions we’ve experienced elsewhere. The grounds are truly stunning: expansive gardens, a forest and stream for kids to explore, and even a private stretch of beach on a secluded part of Lake Windermere. It’s just far enough from Bowness to enjoy the tranquility, but close enough for an easy drive or quick taxi ride into town. Truly a special place. We couldn’t recommend it more!

Booking the boat with Rob was straightforward, and his clear, brilliant demonstration made it easy for us to operate the boat independently. We had a fantastic time at the Wren, beautiful views, my cockerpoo Marley thought he was in heaven, having breakfast on the patio with views over the lake was bliss, lovely walks, would definitely go back next year👍👍👍

Beautiful spacious house . Thomas gray house. Great location. Grounds really nice. Even used hot tub as weather was sunny and warm. Jerry had made sure that was ready. Kitchen lovley. Bedrooms really nice. Tv in every room. Games consoles grandkids made use of. Lovley family house. Would go thete again no problem. Jerry thought of everything very very good host.

We had such a lovely stay at Clare’s Cottage. The location was perfect for the pubs and restaurants in Ambleside and for beautiful walks nearby. We didn’t move the car all weekend. The cottage was beautifully presented and had everything we needed. Thank you for a fabulous weekend. We would definitely return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Emma's place. The secure garden was great for our dog to roam whilst we relaxed in the hot tub at the end of the day following plenty of walking around the Lakes. The cottage itself has loads of character but everything you need for your stay. We were fortunate to have the weather to make use of the gas BBQ. Emma was very welcoming and chilled with the fact we had a good run up and arrived half an hour before check-in time. Nothing was too much trouble and the fresh eggs were delicious! The cottage is just a 10 minute drive from Windermere, (20 minutes to Ambleside, 30 minutes to Grizedale forest), so whilst it's not in the throng of all us tourists, we benefited from the peace and quiet when we wanted it, but nothing was too far away. We'd also highly recommend the fish and chip shop in Staveley, just a 4 minute drive down the road. Hopefully we'll be back!
