I had the blessing of visiting Nazir and his lovely family and house boat - it was like a fairy tale from the past life, surrounded by gentle eagles and enchanted sunrise from the mountains. All meals were provided by him and his wife who I already miss very much. A dreamy boat ride takes you to local markets, local artisans and natural surroundings in the woods / lake and temples/ashrams (I recommend ishwar, it’s non-dualistic kashmir shivaism). Very profound conversations, very careful listening and help. I couldn’t asked for more. I will come back, I have a family in Srinagar now and I am bringing you along in my heart! See you very soon!

Hosts like Mujtaba are evangelists of Airbnb's mission to build a community. Mujtaba's house is one of the best in Srinagar. The garden at the entrance has a 300-year-old chinar tree, along with a section where pears, apples, and grapes grow. They also have an enclosure with hens and ducks. If you're lucky, you might get fresh eggs from their chickens for breakfast! We visited Srinagar in the winter, and it can get very cold. However, our room was warm. It's fascinating how they heat the room using a hamam—by lighting logs under the ground, which warms the floor and, ultimately, the room. Mujtaba’s insights allowed us to experience Srinagar like locals—visiting hidden food gems (ask him about Suleyman!), shopping in local markets, and more. Finally, his parents—they're the best! Well-educated, well-traveled, and respected in the local community, they were incredibly hospitable and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We checked in as strangers but checked out as friends!

Nowsheen and her family made me feel right at home. Right from the point of my arrival at the airport, her husband was there waiting to receive me. I organised with him my out of town travels for sightseeing and other activities. He also dropped me off to the airport at the end of it all. I had no issues at all during the entire time that I stayed with Nowsheen's family. I took the large room with lounge, kitchenette and attached bathroom, upstairs. Apart from being a great host, Nowsheen is a great cook. She prepared and served some of the best selected dishes from their traditional Kashmiri Wazwan feast. I was fortunate to meet her two children, who are very cultured, welcoming and friendly. The early morning prayers from nearby mosques were soul enriching, something to be aware of, while in Srinagar and nearby locations, you will hear prayers from the Mosques during various set timings in the day. Overall, the best experience for me. I will definitely be back for more stays soon.

Easily one of the best stays ever! The hosts were so warm and kind, they really took care of me but Aunty’s food was Unreal! Her kahwa was perfect and those aloo parathas Straight-up legendary with Almond chutney and just when I started craving some South Indian food, she just provided me some killer dishes which were kashmiri and south Indian at the same time so Yum! The room had everything I needed—fast WiFi, a heater, hot water, and a clean bathroom. The blankets were warm and cozy the room had a good view looking the mountains. But honestly, what made it special was just how sweet and caring the hosts were. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!
