Mansion holiday rentals in Illinois

I used to live on Vandalia Lake, so I knew what to expect from the location - but the house is much nicer than pretty much anything else you'll find in Vandalia. It was the perfect place to spend the weekend while celebrating my granny's 82nd, and it's very likely we'll rent it again in the future, assuming it remains available for that purpose. The main living/kitchen/dining area is wide open and great for hanging out without feeling cramped, and the screened balcony/patio is a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors without being forced to "enjoy" the bugs. Everything is light, airy, modern, and well-maintained. This isn't one of those listings where the photos look great and the reality is worn and dirty - what you see is what you get.

The house was very well maintained and well stocked. It was easy to get to and just as easy to access the house. Owners gave us the information ahead of time to check in. A nice little getaway for a long weekend. Hot tub was very relaxing and the views were absolutely breathtaking We enjoyed our time there and will be returning in the future.

The home was beautiful, clean, easily accessible and located in a great area. We had many options for restaurants within a few minutes drive. Easy access to downtown for exploring. Very comfortable amenities and well stocked kitchen. We would stay here again!

We had a fantastic weekend at Hugo's place! It was extremely spacious and well-equipped for large groups of people, with many extras in addition to those listed in the description. Hugo was extremely responsive and accommodating. The price is well worth it for groups of 10+ people, and we would happily stay there again.

Even before check-in, the hosts were incredibly attentive, making sure we were taken care of every step of the way. They graciously allowed us to check in early and even offered a late checkout to accommodate our travel plans. We will definitely be coming back to Chicago and wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else but one of their Airbnbs. Hands down, the best experience I’ve ever had! It was a vibe when it needed to be and peace and quiet while we slept. Like I said it was like staying at a family members house while they were out of town! Thank ya’ll so much for making this weekend special❤️

It's a huge and enjoyable property! We had a great time, and our group (11 people) had plenty of room to sleep, eat, and hang out without feeling cramped. I'd recommend this place to someone hosting a large group like 10+, that wants to stay in Rockford!

Spent a vacation here with my family, everything was accurately described and easy to get in and had everything I needed. I recommend this location and housing for any get-aways.

Can't say enough about our weekend at Brian's house. Fantastic! He was incredibly responsive and generous. We were there for a wedding and 6 of us stayed and had a lovely time. Thank you!!!

I hosted a slumber party for my 10 year old and 9 of her friends, THEY HAD AN ABSOLUTE BALL!! The second night, my husband, mother and 3 children enjoyed a night ourselves, and no one wanted to leave the next morning! Thank you for providing such a comforting atmosphere for my family and I to enjoy!

The house had plenty of room for my family of 10. We truly appreciated all of the extra things to do at the house. The pool table/ping pong table was a hit for the young adults. The fact that they had enough kayaks that the young adults could go out in a group was a huge plus. The only negative I would say is the amount of lily pads in front of the house didn’t allow for swimming off the dock or fishing. Obviously this is not the fault of the owner so we made the best of it.

The home was very clean and cozy! All the local restaraunt recommendations were in a binder upon our arrival and the ones we ordered from were delicious. The heater worked very well and the living room even had charming Christmas lights on the mantle for extra charm.

This was a great home! Very clean and looked just like the pictures! The host was very responsive to everything we asked and made the experience great! The home was in a very safe neighborhood and was close to everything we wanted to do. Would recommend to anyone and if we ever visit Chicago again we will definitely be back to this home!

Beth’s home was perfect for our group trip, which centered around cooking together for a Passover Seder! The kitchen had great appliances and equipment, with the space for many of us to cook at once. The house had everything we needed and we were all comfortable.

We were in Springfield for a church youth conference at the BOS center. Location was great for the event and restaurants. Everything was clearly marked in kitchen and bathrooms plus the owners having some additional items supplied for use was very helpful! It’s an older home with lots of space for larger groups. Our teens loved the two games in the entryway and the large seating area in the living room was a plus also! Reasonable price for what we received! Amazing place! The house had a lot of history but plenty of sleep space for our family. The Land was breathtaking! We will be back!

James was extremely communicative and responsive, and gave clear instructions on how to get into the house, how to turn on/off the hot tub, and how to check out. The house was exactly as described and it was the perfect size for 6 people. The neighborhood and surrounding area was peaceful & quiet. There was coffee k-cups supplied which was a nice touch, and we had everything we needed for a 2 night stay. I would highly recommend this place!

Quiet space in a beautiful location. Clean and comfortable with plenty of room for multiple families to both come together and spread out. Well stocked with necessities and the pool is a great amenity!

Booked a girls weekend and loved this place! The location was secluded out of the city and very peaceful. We saw lots of wild life! Ryan was very responsive and helpful! I would definitely stay here again.

Look - you're going to look at the pictures and description of this place and think "this is too good to be true." I get it - we certainly did. But if you're worried about misleading information, the only fear you will realize is Tom and Beverly are *underselling* this amazing AirBnB. Everything is as good or better than described. The pool - OMG the Endless Pool is amazing! But even if you're not a pool person, Tom and Beverly have put in a lot of thought to making your stay amazing. Indoors you have air hockey, axe throwing, darts, and board games in an absolutely spacious game / enternainment area with vaulted ceilings, comfy couches and chairs, a desk, and incredibly large TV plus super-fast WiFi (500Mb). And that's just 1/3 of the indoor space! I'll run out of characters before I'm done, so here's what else - outdoor space is just as amazing - two private lakes, playground equipment if you've got kiddos, just gorgeous walking, etc. This is definitely one of the best - book it!

We stayed here for a friends reunion with a group of 10, and it was absolutely perfect! The house had plenty of space, lots of bedrooms, and everything was super clean. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful—exactly what we were hoping for. We especially loved all the amenities, the hot tub, pool table, and cozy fireplace made our stay extra fun and relaxing. We did run into a little hiccup with the self check-in, but one quick call to Jennifer and she helped us out quickly and efficiently. It was a great deal for such an amazing place, and we’ll definitely book again if we’re back in Galena with a big group. Highly recommend!
