Monthly Rentals in San Sebastián Río Hondo

A very peaceful and comfortable place with nature sounds at all times, a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need, you can even prepare a coffee in the morning. Alberto and his family are always very attentive, despite being in the mountains, he has very effective internet in his cabin (since you do not have a phone line at that height). I totally recommend the accommodation since you can stay in the relaxed cabin all the time and walk along the river or also get to know the Pueblo San Mateo Río Hondo, getting to know its culture and having breakfast/ eating around is highly recommended. Transportation is easy to get around and reach the cabins (Alberto provides you with help with that) but I recommend checking in in the afternoon!

We had a really good time in San Mateo. Sometimes it got a bit noisy in the night due to explosive noises in the surrounding area and the ground outside was very prickly so you have to wear shoes, Overall, the cabin has everything you’ll need and making fire in the night and stargaze is an absolute highlight!

My stay at Janet’s place was absolutely perfect. The hut was immaculate, roomy, and very cool. There are two levels with the best spot for writing or reading that overlooks her garden and the valley beyond. Also a small library! The kitchen space is simple with everything I needed (electric camp stove, mini fridge, pots/pans, plates/utensils and filtered water). She provided towels and extra blankets. There is even a sweet little fireplace as the (Spring) nights got chilly. Outside was my own patio where I spent plenty of time just sitting and marveling at the surroundings. There’s a clothes line in back. Janet, herself is a warm-hearted delight! She gave me so much information (on & off script) and showed me around the village, introducing me to everyone we crossed paths with. She set me up with some extras and helped with communication. Sometimes we just talked, but she also afforded me plenty of privacy as well. She made me feel welcome and special. Janet is a true gem❤️.

The stay was amazing! The cabaña is very cosy, and the surrounding of a beautiful garden make you feel like in a fairly tale! Big Kudos to Fres for designing it. <3 What is more, very close by you can find tasty food, weekly market and a magical trail along the river! In the round cabaña just be prepared for a bit of roosters crowing (but if you’re sensitive it’s not a problem, Fres can book you her other room). She and her family are very kind and helpful.
