Holiday rentals with a fire pit in Skye

What a magical place! We absolutely loved our stay here and already dream of coming back. The inside is soooo beautiful and comfortable that we didn’t mind staying in on rainy days. We could never get sick of watching the sheep roaming the hillsides or the ever changing coast from the fabulous sunroom. The only downside is we were unaware of the time involved to bring the wood-fired hot tub up to temp. It takes an hour to fill with water and “up to 3.5 hours to heat in the winter”. Since we can’t leave the fire unattended, we weren’t able to enjoy it until our third night since we arrived home so late on the previous nights. It is also very hard to find in the dark and the pin led us to the wrong spot. Google Mapsing the house name took us to the right spot, but we arrived in the dark and were unable to see the sign to the bottom right of the gate. Everything else was completely perfect and we highly recommend staying in this lovely place.

equipment needed. Plenty of space for all ages.( 84 to 18 month) White goods great for keeping up with washing, drying and washing up. Interesting area to stay if you like Western Scotland. Not for townies! Had a night out at the family ceilidh with friendly locals. Shop had essentials. Need to keep an eye on petrol as nearest at Strontian. Would be interesting to see it in Spring or Summer.

We had two families (4 adults and 4 children) to stay for 3 nights. The house was cosy and slept all of us with ease. The kitchen and family arrangement was slightly pokey downstairs, with only a small kitchen table for us to congregate around. However, it was great to have 3 bathrooms in the property. Recycling instructions were easy to follow and kitchen was well-stocked with cooking equipment. There was a fairly demanding neighbouring property owner who insisted on seemingly unnecessary parking arrangements, but apart from this, the stay was pleasant.

Alison was a wonderful host for her place from giving us excellent directions (we came in after dark and still found it easily) to checking us in personally. We communicated with her that we had left later than planned and would be getting there late so we certainly didn't expect a personal check-in, but it was much appreciated. The place itself is a charming croft and a small distance from Spean Bridge into the countryside. The views are gorgeous and the interior is welcoming and well equipped. For us it was a central location for exploring - .5 hour to Fort William, 1.5 hrs to Glen Creran, and slighly less than 2 hrs to Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skybridge to the Isle of Skye, etc. We would hike all day and come home late to make a last meal and sleep. Having a washer and dryer in a mud room area was fabulous with mud on our hikes. We would definitely stay here again both for the scenery and the hospitality.

Me and some friends stayed in Katherine’s house. This was a lovely experience and would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of visiting the area. Lots of beautiful views and scenery on the doorstep of this property.

We loved Julie’s place! Location was perfect, walking distance to everything in Fort Augustus and a great base from which to explore the Highlands. The house is beautiful, incredibly comfortable and very spacious for the 6 of us. Julie provided a great welcome with treats and even crackers ready for our Christmas meal. The kitchen is very well equipped. Nice garden and plenty of space for parking. Very highly recommended, would love to come back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great views and a comfortable house. Had everything we needed and was nice and clean! Would recommend to anyone who wants a base to explore the amazing surrounding area.

Hector’s place was very comfortable, easy to access and you couldn’t beat the location. The flat is very spacious with beautiful lighting at all times of the day. Hector was great to communicate with and responsive to our inquiries. The Cafe below is an added bonus.

Our second time staying here. On arrival we were greeted by Mike who showed us around. Lovely apartment with views onto the Cloisters. We made use of the amenities onsite, and enjoyed the stunning views and historic location. We had a wonderful stay once again.

It’s a very nice place, you can see every detail of the design is so beautiful and modern. You can sit at the outdoor space with fire for an amazing morning tea. Would definitely recommend you to stay!

Great to stay in this cosy, immaculate self contained apartment. Perfectly furnished with everything we needed - even down to the Tupperware which was helpful for our picnics! Lovely to have cooking oil and tea bags too! Fantastic location - with Arisaig on the doorstep and Mallaig and nearby beaches a short drive away. We were able to get the ferry to Eigg and Skye for some great days out and enjoy a number of local walks including down to the stunning Rhu Beach, which Steve recommended.

Lori was really helpful and hospitable. The animals were great. The view out the cabin is lovely, especially for watching for shore birds. Unfortunately we missed out on the otter, seals, and porpoises that are sometimes spotted nearby. Comfy cabin. Good size for such a small cabin.

We are very happy to have chosen Sally and Adam's chalet for our stay on the Isle of Skye. The accommodation is surrounded by nature, instills peace and serenity, great place to rest the mind👌🏻 the cottage is equipped with all the necessary amenities, the view is spectacular at all hours of the day. Sally and Adam are very helpful and kind people. Special thanks to Adam who helped us solve a problem with our car tire. Super recommended!!! Federico & Marta

Wowee! Just arrived home from a wonderful stay in Portuairk, we have stayed in many pods all across Scotland and this was by far the most luxurious and most spacious! The pod is stunning, super clean and well equipped. The surrounding area is beautiful with breathtaking scenery and lovely sandy beaches. Hosts were also very decent and available if needed. I would highly recommend a visit to these pods and Portuairk!

This place was a dream for us and our dog! could not have picked a better location! was a great location to see things in the area with beautiful walks and lochs! also was a good location for getting to Skye! Lindsay also had a n amazing welcome pack which was such a nice touch for us and our dog! Lindsay was amazing and super helpful throughout! She even messaged us to give us a heads up about the northern lights being visible and allowed us to capture and see this for the first time ever! so grateful for this. highly recommend this place!

Nicky was very helpful and flexible with the logistical side of things. the view is spectacular and the place was cosy and homely which is what you need.

The perfect Highland getaway, right in the heart of the Glencoe Mountains. A very homely stay with a very generous living space. All the amenities and facilities you’ll need and a very helpful host. We hope to come back another time.

Sandra was an excellent host, we had a wonderful stay & were in the perfect location for the nc 500 famous peninsula drive. Very cosy , comfy beds & immaculate- we would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at Thistle do Nicely.
