We can only recommend this place. The view from the balcony is fantastic. What made this stay so special were the two hosts. Eugenia and Mihalis were so kind, friendly and caring. The dinner we ordered was best Cretan cuisine. They gave us lots of helpful tips for activities in the area.

Highly recommend staying here, especially if you want to visit Sougia, take a few hikes (such as up Giglios, to Lissos, or along the E4 - all of which we did), or just live in peace with a great view. As everyone has already observed and commented, Ioannis's place is gorgeous, the surroundings are peaceful and beautiful, and Ioannis will ensure you have some provisions on hand (water, juice, fruit, bread, etc.). But what I really wanted to comment on was the hospitality of Ioannis and the people of the village. We were lucky to time our late October visit with the annual tsikoudia (raki) making tradition (Kazani, I think it's called). At Ioannis's invitation, and with his mother's helpful guidance, we attended and were warmly welcomed and so well fed!! What an unexpected and awesome experience! Such a gem.

We feel fortunate to have found this apartment. The location near Sougia gave us 10 minute access to Dougia town with it's excellent restaurants and beach. The view from our deck was stunning and a perfect place for more ing coffee and sunset wine sipping. Reception was about the best we have ever had. Every once in a while Airbnb travelers know they find something really special and this wonderful place is one of those finds. Do not hesitate to experience this 'real' part of Crete away from crowds and the hustle and bustle. A memorable few days and we wish we had stayed far, far longer.
