A very spacious, comfortable and well located cottage on the heart of Castleton. Lovely gifts left by the host for us on arrival. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well equipped. Very easy parking just opposite the front gate. Will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time at Callow Barn and can’t wait to return! The location was idyllic with the most magnificent views. The house itself was beautifully furnished and so comfortable. And an amazing selection of walks right on the doorstep. We felt really privileged to be there 😊

The cottage was warm & welcoming. John provided a generous welcome pack of goodies and was flexible and responsive to any questions. We really appreciated the beauty of the surrounding countryside and peaceful environment of the cottage. Despite it being a spring visit we enjoyed having the fire lit for us one evening. I have no hesitation to recommend Johns cottage.

Lisa was very proactive with communications and even provided milk as we couldn’t get any on route. Beautiful surroundings albeit maybe a little remote for some. Worked well for us as we chose this and only 10 mins to Middlewood Tram P & R

After following the build process of the Airbnb on social media since the start, I could not wait to finally book and stay over. My stay at the sanctuary was nothing short of magical and far exceeded all my expectations and hopes! It was a perfect mix of relaxation, education, and heartfelt interactions with both the animals and the amazing staff. Jake, Rosie and the team were all welcoming and friendly. The accommodation was completed to a high standard giving you that home from home feel with an added luxury touch of the hot tub. If you are looking for a unique getaway that offers both an escape into nature and a chance to support a meaningful cause, I highly recommend the Animal Sanctuary Airbnb. I cannot wait to return and continue supporting their invaluable work!

We had an amazing stay, Claire's had everything we could possibly need & more! Location was great, a 1 minute walk to the local pub which was really friendly & great for quiz night on a Wednesday! A 20 minute walk into Holmfirth for a choice of lovely coffee shops & places to eat! Plenty of walks & bike rides straight out of the house! Thank you for having us & thank you so much for all the tasty treats!

Easy to find and a welcome sight when you enter and it was very clean and tidy. Had a lovely feeling to the room, all be it small for more then two people. Bedrooms again small but very tidy and inviting. We only did a one night stop, so cant comment on the area but the pub three doors down was very quiet and ok for a couple of drinks. Overall it was great for a nights stop over but lacked any outside space. Thanks for letting us stay.

Lovely cottage close to great restaurants and pubs, as well as the dam and lovely woods. Fantastic cycling routes nearby. We particularly liked the Fox and Hounds which had live music and great food and real ale. The cottage was lovely, spotlessly clean and very comfortable and very convenient to everything we wanted to do. Alexandra provided very clear instructions which was most helpful. Would love to return.
