Family-friendly holiday rentals in Devon

We had a wonderful stay at Bridesmere over New Year and it was just what we needed. Peaceful, beautiful area, lovely comfortable home from home. We appreciated the enclosed garden for our spaniel, the beautiful and spacious bedrooms and the living area which was large enough for all 7 of us, two families. WiFi was strong upstairs so no issue with all of us connected and the tv had all apps we needed to watch films with no buffering. There is a beautiful walk through the forest along the river just minutes from the house which leads to a very nice pub serving good food. As other reviews mention, the kids room smells a little musty/damp but this was not a huge issue and we opened the bathroom window after showering which helped. Kitchen well stocked but knives are a little blunt! Children loved the games barn and not having to bring bikes with us was really helpful and appreciated. Overall we couldn’t have asked for a nicer stay and we would definitely return. Thank you for having us.

Me and my partner have just finished our stay with alpine grove and would highly recommend visiting. We stayed in the woodpecker lodge and from the log burner to the hot tub everything about this lodge was perfect, Kieth and Serena service is amazing and we can’t wait to visit again soon. Quiet, 3 day break. The potting shed was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Beautiful walks, nice local pubs and a great cafe on the farm made this a lovely stay. Well located for day trips to Cheddar gorge, Wells and other local attractions

A beautiful home in a lovely village! we had a perfect weekend away exploring the moors and trying the local pubs and cafes all walking distance in the village. I would highly recommend staying here. the house was spotless and clean and the hot tub was perfect ! holls recommendation were great and very helpful, she made us feel very welcome. we would definitely stay again.

We had the pleasure of staying at Cedar Lodge to celebrate my mum’s birthday & it was an unforgettable experience. Nestled in a peaceful location with stunning views, the lodge perfectly blends rustic charm with modern luxury. The beautifully designed interiors, cozy furnishings, and thoughtful touches are what made our stay extra special. The hot tub on the south-facing deck was a highlight, offering a perfect spot to relax. Every amenity was provided, making it feel like a home away from home. We’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend Cedar Lodge at Lower Coombe Royal for a relaxing getaway. A big thank you to Julie & Paul for going above & beyond! 😊

The views from the living room, kitchen and 3 of the bedrooms are beautiful. The house is spacious, clean and well equipped. Mark is very quick to respond and if like me you are going to throw your tea over the bed at 7 in the morning he is the perfect host (he very quickly arrived with new bedding - thank you Mark). There's lots to do in the area with a special shout out to the Riverford Field Kitchen for a fantastic meal (30 mins drive) and if you're into hot tubs the views from this one are difficult to beat. Great for big groups and dogs. 10/10.

What a wonderful stay, such tranquility! I couldn’t fault it, Gill’s hut was everything we wanted and more. Gill was a fabulous host and provided us with all recommendations needed and always responded :) Ideal place to unwind and get back the family time you need. The dog even has his own space to explore. The hot-tub was an amazing bonus and my daughter loved it - being outside under the stars ✨ I would def recommend and the photos do not do it justice. Peaceful luxury!!

The most perfect stay! From beginning to end, we felt right at home and so relaxed within the beautiful setting and spacious lodge. Having our morning coffee outside overlooking the stunning Devon countryside, we were spoilt with a gorgeous view of the Exe. The lodge itself was quite simply perfect. The kitchen was very well equipped, the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms were sparkling clean. We really enjoyed having access to the hot tub. We can't wait to come back and visit. Thank you to Nicky for creating the perfect country escape.

Beautiful cottage, very spacious even though it’s one bedroom. Everything we needed. Such a comfy bed, very warm & cosy. Sadly had to cut our stay short due to emergency at home but would definitely stay again.

Just returned from a few days at the Bunkhouse. We had a great time start to finish. Jill kept in touch, making checkin and out very straightforward. The accomodation was clean and tidy and everything was as expected. The location was great for exploring the north Devon area, and it was so peaceful. We also enjoyed some star gazing, being away from town lights, the views were spectacular. We also enjoyed meeting the donkeys, who were very friendly. for shopping there is a Sainsburys at Bude, not too far away. We also tried the local Inn at Bradworthy, great food and reasonably priced. All in all this is a great place to visit, we would recommend to others and will visit again in the future 🙂

Delightful AirBnB; stunning location and views over the sea and the setting sun from the deck with a glass of Guinness Zero just what the Doctor ordered ! Everything was clean, tidy, functioning and comprehensively equipped. Check in straightforward and private parking outside. David and Angela's communication before and after was excellent. It was a quiet week and break for the two of us and our Labrador to simply relax. We went "off season" which suited us well. The morning and evening walks along the beachfront good for the soul. We have no hesitation in recommending this AirBnB and David and Angela. It is ideally located to explore North Devon if you want to go more wider than Woolacombe. Conversely, just enjoy the views from the deck and relax. An evening meal in the Chichester Arms in Mortehoe just up the road - coupled with a log fire - and then back to the AirBnB lounge on the sofa with a decent movie. We would happily book this again - in fact - we are tempted to buy there !

Fantastic little cottage for our family break away. I even asked for our stay to be extended on short notice (a week or 2 before we were due to arrive) and Eva & Richard were able to accommodate this. I'm glad I did as the cottage was so lovely, perfect location with the beach, the lake and lots of beautiful walks at the doorstep. The little fire stove was so nice when coming back from a cold, refreshing walk.

My second stay at Wagtails and highly recommend especially when staying with dogs. Took advantage of the enclosed dog walking area this time and it was great, high secure fencing and the dogs loved it. Lovely cosy cottage with everything I needed. Will definitely stay again.

Wonderful place, a credit to Piers and Sue. clean, beautifully finished, very comfortable, ideal spot to get away from it all. Perfect hosts, really responsive to queries, always there if you need them but never intrusive. Detailed driving directions invaluable, people comment on the local roads but they're fine if you take care. Once I downloaded maps of the local area to Google Maps navigation worked fine. highly recommended.

Myself and my friends had a lovely stay at Fish Cottage. It was calm and cozy, the fireplace was the biggest highlight for us. It was a lovely surprise to have a welcome bottle of wine! If you're looking for peaceful, quiet, secluded and just wanting to nest down for a few days, this is the ideal place.

As a family of 2 adults, 1 child and a dog we have just come back from a really lovely stay at Sousson's barn. So peaceful, relaxing, friendly and cosy. Just what we needed. It was spotlessly clean, very welcoming and everything we could need was provided. We enjoyed the woodburner in the evenings and looking through the books on Dartmoor farming and history and playing games together. We all slept really well and enjoyed watching the farm animals and the wildlife around the barn. Thankyou Steve and Tessa for a really wonderful trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the pictures do not do this place justice, as it is much bigger than the pictures show. The annex was very clean and spotless. Ian & Katka (Hosts) were very proactive, friendly and welcoming and went the extra mile. The swimspa and hot tub are an absolute amazing feature of the property along with the balcony and views. We would highly recommend and would love to visit again.

Lovely accommodation in beautiful surroundings. Even more spacious than photos suggest. It was also wonderful to be able to do walks right from the property. Friendly hosts who greeted us and popped by to check we were OK and if they could help in any way. Baked treats and tea supplies when we arrived were a lovely touch. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

we stayed here for 4 night early January while working in the area a.d felt very much at home dispite the freezing weather the home was warm. cosy and comfortable so.much so I'm booking again to come with the family

lovely stay, place was better than the photos made it look. beds were very comfy. Iona was very responsive. would recommend to friends and family.

the stay was wonderful very peaceful and a loverly setting. however when attending the local Supermarket for provisions on both occasions the shop and staff within stunk of drugs to the point where I mentioned to the assistant/ shop manager of the smell who retorted that "well I can't stand the stink of wine". clearly the smell of drugs is acceptable to the users and staff which I find abhorrent. we therefore spent the remainder of our break away from the local town and stopped using as a convenient place to purchase provisions. other places of interest and areas which were within driving so this did not spoil our break and enjoyment of our stay.....

The 4th time we’ve stayed at Little Burston. The cottage has everything you need, is lovely and peaceful and private. Carol is a great host and responds promptly to any issues. A lovely stay as usual.

We booked Mistletoe Farm for a stag do, and it couldn’t have been better! The location is fantastic—secluded enough to enjoy ourselves without worrying about disturbing anyone, but still close enough to Chard and surrounding areas for pubs and activities. The accommodation was spotless, spacious, and had everything we needed. The hosts were welcoming and gave us great recommendations for local spots. The hot tub were absolute highlights—perfect for relaxing during the day and unwinding in the evening after a big night out. If you're looking for a unique and memorable place to host a stag weekend with a mix of fun and relaxation, this is the place! Would definitely recommend and return!

Excellent communication with Emily from the get-go. The place was as described and you didn't want for anything appliance wise, as it had everything available that you needed. Really nice touch with the biscuits and toiletries. Excellent arrival instructions, which were clear and concise. Would definitely stay there again if we were in the immediate area.
