Monthly Rentals in Pohoiki Bay

Great spot and value for two people staying on the big island if 1. You’re flying to and from Hilo airport and 2. Have a car and don’t mind driving everyday. It’s off the beaten path but in a beautiful residential location away from traffic and the city centres. Nearest market (Malama) is 10 min away which was great to get prepared foods, snacks, and groceries. If you’re highly sensitive to noise while sleeping (i’m not, but there was lots of animal sounds and rain throughout the night) I’d reconsider this place although Jacob offers solutions (earplugs, noise canceling headphones, or bring your own) to help with that. Jacob was a great host - in person greeting upon arrival and responsive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nicki & Sevyn’s Kipuka. The setting was incredible, and Nicki & Sevyn did everything they could to make the stay feel special for us- including showing us the best place to view stars at night, slicing open a coconut and teaching us about the history and produce of their amazing yard!

I had the absolute pleasure of staying with Patty and Gary for an entire month, and I can’t recommend them highly enough! From the moment I arrived, they made me feel right at home. Their hospitality goes beyond what you’d expect — not only is their home warm and welcoming, but their kindness and thoughtfulness truly set them apart. They made sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay, and they were always there with helpful tips, interesting conversations, and lots of good laughs. What started as a simple stay in a lovely space turned into a lasting friendship, and for that, I’m incredibly grateful. If you’re looking for more than just a place to stay — if you want a genuine, caring experience with hosts who go above and beyond — look no further. Patty and Gary are truly one of a kind, and I feel lucky to have crossed paths with them. I can’t wait to stay with them again in the future!

Lovely home that felt like a secluded forest retreat about 40 min outside Hilo. This property is two units with separate doors, a studio and 1 bedroom, linked by a covered porch and washer / dryer closet. Sound travels between them but it is good space for a close knit group or family. The kitchen is well stocked; expect to compost and the house is on a water catchment system. We traveled with young kids so it was great to let them run around; however the counter height dining table is probably more optimal for older kids and adults. Our stay was very peaceful, highly recommend if you are looking for something off the beaten path!
