Shepherds hut holiday rentals in Somerset

Sandra and Rob are always really kind, thoughtful and helpful hosts and it is a pleasure to stay with them.

I had a wonderful stay. There has been some storm damage to the hut I was due to stay in so Linda called me and let me know she had plenty of other options and put me in a wonderful alternative hut. The hut was spotless, warm (with enough wood to keep me warm all weekend) and cosy. Linda was very friendly and responsive. Moonfleet is a beautiful place to spend some time away from normal life and feel in the country side. I can’t wait to go back!

We didn't want to return home as we had had the perfect stay. This lovely little shepherd's hut surrounded by beautiful farmlands, was just what we'd hoped for and it didn't disappoint! Our hosts Peter and Rachel, were very responsive to our needs, although, gave us our privacy and let us explore the surrounding areas. The hut had lots of little touches to it that made it feel homely and cute, although, functional and great use of a small space. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the hut had heating, wifi and a range of options on the tv after a tiring day of adventures! Excellent stay, would absolutely return, thank you! Penny and Ant real nice people . If you want to unwind and go back to nature this is the place . The views and silence is perfect it’s a remedy . No 42” TV with mobile sockets everywhere this is off grid bliss , fabulous comfy bed in the hut and great shed for cooking , if your a 70s kid you’ll appreciate the shower and toilet , brilliant . Not just an over night stay but an experience of how things should be , regards Alan .

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the hut. Fiona was a really great host who came out to us even though it was late and raining! The hut was super warm on arrival and it has an internal heater and towel rail which is nice. It was also nice to be welcomed with some baked goods which we enjoyed the next morning. The bed was super comfy and we slept really well. The hot tub was nice to relax in… you get all the stuff provided for it which is good and on previous experiences this isn’t always the case. We used the Fire pit and you get some cushions to use which are under the bed and extra blankets which again is really nice. It’s exceptionally well thought out and the lord of added extras make it really nice. Would deffo return

We have just returned home from a wonderful stay at Moonfleet. Our two young sons had such a fun time seeing all the animals and having lots of space to ride their bikes, they were always busy off exploring! The shepherd’s hut was very homely and was perfect for our few nights away. It was well thought out with warm blankets and storage and felt very cosy with the wood burner going. Linda was very quick to respond to messages and very friendly. Would also recommend the local pub the Fox Inn as we had a lovely meal there one evening. We’ll definitely be back again for another little holiday! Thank you for a lovely time!

Great location in Porlock for a long weekend; plenty of walks etc. Would stay again!

Thankfully we bumped into Sally’s neighbour who walked us to the site. ( we ended up becoming friends with them!) The accommodation wasn’t very clean, but it was well stacked with everything we needed and more. Beds and pillows were terrifically comfortable. Bath was heaven, evenings and mornings were paradise. Loved eating al fresco and the site contained everything to make us relax. A special thanks for bread, REAL coffee! Eggs, butter and milk! We loved it and would love to return. Just more attention required to housekeeping!

Beautiful location. Cabin was like home from home…had everything you need. Super comfy and cosy. Jo was very helpful and quick to respond. Would highly recommend.

Clean, comfortable, and super peaceful. Chris is a top bloke and his place is the ideal getaway. The hut is a short walk from all of the amenities yet a stones throw from the woods and gorge, and having free rein of the private garden with viewing platform is a lovely touch. Wonderful!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay, the hut was lovely, clean and tidy in a great setting. Very clear instructions were left inside making everything easy to use. Instructions to access the property were sent over before our stay ensure we found the way with ease. Cannot recommend enough!

Me and my train mad 5 year old had the most wonderful time at Shimbleshanks! We got there all the way from East London on public transport, including the last leg direct to the door on a steam train on the West Somerset Railway. The hut was magical and the surroundings beautiful - my son made friends with the chickens and the cat and could play in the garden in the early whilst I sat on the garden bench and read my book. Gaynor and James had thoughtfully provided some toys and an Easter egg for my lad and even fixed up an old bike for him to ride around on. There was lots to do in the immediate area, all reached by foot or bus. We didn't want to come home! Xxx

Second visit this year💗 This place well and truly has my heart. I’ve never been anywhere in my life that I have felt so peaceful then this place (and I have travelled to so many beautiful countries). Dreamview Shepherd Hut are absolutely breathtaking, I could not recommend them enough. If your contemplating booking, don’t think just book it you won’t be disappointed. Melanie has thought of every little detail you could possibly need. I love this place so much, from sitting in the hot tub watching the stars to laying in bed with the cosy fire lit. I don’t ever want to leave this place. Please keep these huts forever!💗 Thank you so much Melanie and family - you have truly out done yourselves with this venue. And please keep this place forever 💗 P.s - would recommend Culm Valley Inn for food (about 8 minutes from venue)

Camilla was an amazing host. We enjoyed it so much we’re thinking of returning very soon. Absolutely beautiful scenery and the place itself is lovely too. So nice to be away in the middle of nowhere!

Bills at Goathill was great, so peaceful and beautiful surroundings, lots of wildlife to look at and birds to listen to. also the pond was nice to sit next to and watch the wildlife. no phone signal which was great for us as we needed a good break from the real world which is exactly what we wanted. Very easy to find with very clear instructions received by Annabel before our check in. Annabel greeted us as soon as we arrived and showed us where everything that we needed was and everything you could want was provided. We are very much looking forward to going back one day.

We booked both Shepard’s huts to stay with family. They were spotlessly clean, the kids loved the wood pile and we made use of the BBQ / fire pit. Thanks for a lovely stay, we’ll be back

I don't think mine and my partners stay here will be beatable by anything we book for ourselves in the future. We're already planning our next visit. 10/10 all the way through. We absolutely loved our hosts and our Shepherds hut. Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, just perfect.

The shepherd’s hut is such a gorgeous little place to stay. It is kitted out really well and the view from the terrace is stunning. The wood burner keeps you warm and the bed is surprisingly comfortable! Will definitely be back the next time we want to go to Woods in Dulverton.

Collie shepherds hut was just perfect! The hut was clean and well equipped, with some beautiful extra touches like crumpets and milk being provided. It had everything we needed for our weekend break. All bedding and towels were provided and there were things like a hairdryer for after the tub, blankets for a chilly evening and sticks to toast marshmallows on! The hot tub and fire pit were superb, and well used by us! It got soooo hot we were able to stay in for hours! The view was to die for- with rolling fields in front of us, with grazing horses, many different birds and the sound of cows and wildlife all around. It was in a very rural location which meant it was peaceful and tranquil. Lots of towns and cities near enough to get out exploring each day! The host was great at communicating and gave us a very friendly welcome. We would absolutely come back ❤️

What can I say?! Just amazing. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Fantastic host. Every little detail thought of and such a high standard. Loved everything about this stay. Will definitely recommend and more importantly definitely be back. Thank you so much Lou, it is simply perfect.

100% recommend staying here. The pictures are exactly what it’s like in person and more! The attention to detail was amazing, everything you need for your stay is there. They even had hot chocolate and marshmallows for a cosy night around the fire-pit. Communication with the host was very formative, clear and in timely manner. We would definitely return as it is the perfect relaxing getaway but also walks/restaurants close. Thankyou so much!

The location of the hideaway was stunning, very private and overall very relaxing. Check in instructions were clear, directions were clear. The hut itself was very clean and had all the appliances that we needed. When we arrived the Hot tub was already filled and heated with clear intrusions on how to use. This little getaway was exactly what we needed to decompress and relax in the country side. Surrounded by birds, wild life and various animals. Jeni was very helpful, quick and responding, welcoming and friendly. Overall a fan experience, would definitely recommend and come back again.

We had the most luxurious weekend just before Christmas. Brilliant hosts. Stunning location, looking out over the valley, watching the alpacas roam. The hut feels very private, down its own little footpath. The 2-person hot tub isn't overlooked by anyone else and no one would ever pass by (unless they were lost). Robes and towels provided. The hut is very cosy and warm - even when we only used the heated towel rail. The wood burner is fantastic (wood supplied free of charge). The bed folds down from the wall into the space where the table/benches are. Cooking facilities are two hobs and a microwave, with all pans/utensils we needed. Fantastic shared facilities as well: we used the indoor pool and table tennis - although it was hard to peel ourselves away from our beloved hut! We were there during a mega storm and (a) the hut stayed super cosy and (b) Simon and Claire were super responsive when the storm knocked out the water pump. What a fantastic weekend - can't wait to go back!

Sally's place was the perfect getaway! If you're looking for somewhere that will be enjoyable for a dog who can be nervous of other dogs, this is a gem! No loose dogs, very secure garden, I could relax on the lounger or in the hot tub without worrying where he is or what he's doing. Sally is very dog savvy and has rescue dogs herself so was really understanding of my boy's needs which meant so much. The cabin was perfect for the 2 of us and had everything we needed in terms of facilities and ways to cook, everything thoughtfully done and a beautiful sunrise view over the fields. Great food options nearby, if you're vegan definitely check out Rob's Fish Bar for a really good vegan menu. Thank you Sally for a relaxing stay, we will definitely be back!
